Does it matter how we match up against them? beating them is less important Dallas
winning the super bowl is more important, we need to worry bout how we match up
against the AFC

their still the front running contenders to capture the crown again this year, so our
focus should be on them, not Philly

Gotta get through the division and beat up the division bully before we can even think about the AFC

I think quite favorable. That Monday nighter will be somehting to see.
You can say that again. If Spears or Coleman can occupy Tra Thomas long enough for Ware to penetrate into the backfield, McNabb is toast. Yeah, I've been waiting to see that kind of pressure on SoupMan for a looooooooong time.

McNabb prides himself on beating the Cowboys year in and year out. We have to play the Eagles like it's the SB everytime. You have to have the right mentality when you go up against the Eagles....period.

Wrong side of the DL...it would be Ellis or Canty

Thomas has been on Blood Thinners for the past half year because of problems with Blood Clots

But according to Reid, he's in good shape.

Thomas will need some help with speed rushers though--he just doesnt have the lateral agility he did 3 or 4 years ago

First of all, I disagree that Fraley is a poor center. He's solid.....not spectacular.

Let's try to do this matchup thing.......

Eagles passing game vs Dallas pass defense:
**Pressure.....Can we get any? McNabb doesn't handle pressure too well. If you can keep him in the pocket and get someone coming at him, he is scattershot. We did this with great effect in 2004's first matchup. Now, if he can escape the rush, like last year's Mon. Night game, he'll kill you. If he's allowed to sit in the pocket, he'll kill you. We must pressure him without letting him break containment. Easier said than done. We have no idea what our pass rush will be like. Ware seems to be the real deal, and Fergie certainly will help Ellis.

I think our secondary will matchup with the Eagles WRs quite well. We may not have an answer for Owens (but no team does), but I think Henry, Newman, or Glenn will have the ability to matchup one-on-one with the Eagles' second WR and we can double Owens.

All that being said, I still give the edge to the Eagles. We have no idea how effective our pass rush will be, and we still have to contend with Westbrook out of the backfield.

Eagles Running Game vs Dallas Run Defense:
Westbrook is a dangerous runner, but not one that can pound a defense into submission. I view him as a Warrick Dunn-type. I think Westbrook can be contained as a runner. His real threat is a receiver.

The Eagles runner that scares me most is McNabb. He kills us by scrambling for drive continuing first downs. We have to contain him as a runner.

Of course, I have no idea how good our run defense will be. Frankly, I'm more worried about it than I am our pass defense. Mainly because of our lack of size on the DL and LB. Ellis and Dat are the ones I'm especially worried about.

Right now, I'm giving this a push......

Dallas Passing Game vs Eagles Pass Defense:
**I think the Eagles corners can be beaten. I really think their blitz scheme masks some weaknesses their CBs have. I think our OL (if we find a RT) can handle the Eagles blitz. Julius Jones can really help if he can make the Eagles DL worry about him.

There's been a lot of arguing about our WRs. I think they can be very good if they stay healthy. We have size and toughness with Key, and speed with Glenn.

I give a slight edge to the Cowboys.

Dallas Run Game vs Eagles Run Defense:
**I've thought the Eagles could be run on for the past two seasons. So far, teams have been unable to do it.......or, they abandon it too early. Their DL is as undersized as ours. Again, their scheme does such a good job of hiding their weaknesses. Trotter is the key here. He makes their run defense tick.

So much rides on our ability to find an adequate RT. I think Rogers will be fine here, and the addition of Rivera will make our whole OL better.

Edge to the Cowboys.

Special Teams:

No contest Eagles.

Not a very thorough job on my analysis. I'll try to be more in depth after a few more preseason games. Not only that, I'm watching "Herbie Rides Again" with my kids. Not exactly inspiring football there.........

Their secondary is just too good for Johnson, Glenn, Crayton and Witten.

This is where I disagree...but I like this post. Think about it...new QB...new scheme....three years of history....seeing what to do against them.

I think Witten will have probably his best games against the slime birds...only because they like to blitz so much that Drew will have to get rid of it early...to Witten. And, Keyshawn will step it up too...the wideouts won't see much, because Drew might not have that much time to hit em...

On offense...well, I have a good feeling that Jj will run like a stallion this year behind this new offensive line! So, the eagles might not be prepared for that kind of speed on our offense...(Troy Hambirck)!!

It's definitely going to be a different ball game this year! JUST WATCH AND SEE! I guarantee it!!
