Do you like him? Do you hate him? Are you indifferent? Do you miss Mike Jenkins? Regardless of how you answer any of those questions, you absolutely have to give credit where it's due. I think someone said that was his 4th interception of his NFL career. That's just wonderful. Whether it was # 4 or #12, the adjustment on that INT and the follow through to never give up on the play is a perfect example of why this guy is out there for us every week. He plays with a major chip on his shoulder and that translates to a scrappy disposition on the field. He also does it on special teams by the way of you hadn't noticed. He was the critical block that sprung Harris for that punt return TD.
Scandrick just goes out there and puts in a lunch pail effort every day. I love that work ethic and couldn't care less if he provides surly post game interviews. I also noticed Kiffin made an adjustment to his scheme last night and had the corners manning up more than any other occasion this year. All great signs as we move into the meat of the schedule. Props to MO, Carr, and Scandrick. That defensive effort left me with the confidence that we may possibly reach 4-3 this week. No matter who you plugged in on defense, they were in position to make plays. As much as we have rued the departure of Rob Ryan, the scheme deserves all the credit for having those no names in position to make plays last night. More importantly, Kiffin has the attention of every single player on defense..Starters and reserves alike. It's not just coincidence that bench players fill roles and make plays. That is universal adoption of the kool-aid folks.
