Is this even possible? I don't want to get my hopes up over something that's really a pipe dream.

It sure would be nice...

Well I'm going to tell him to run a 4.6 at the combine and halfass his drills so he drops to us.

IF we assume for a minute that R Williams is gone, and I think that most of us would agree that even if we re-sign K Davis he's probably not ideal . . . .

We could always either (1) move Hamlin to SS and look for a FS in the Draft; (2) If it's easier to find a SS in the Draft, then we keep Hamlin at FS.

I don't see JJ spending big bucks in FA for another Safety. And I don't think we really have the talent on the roster to replace R Williams.

I'd guess the most likely scenario is to draft a Safety, either SS or FS, and hope he pans out.

A lot of rookies start and play very effectively. The Cowboys don't seem to have that success, although Felix looked pretty darn good before he got hurt. Demarcus Ware played well as a rookie, but he had Bill Parcells pushing him.

A month ago, I'd have said yes. Now I think he'll end up in the 1st round. If he does make it to the 2nd round for any reason, I do hope Jerry will trade up in the 2nd to get him. We have 11 picks. Plenty to work with. The only player at the top of the 2nd I would want more is Duke Robinson if he fell there.

I'd be extremely pleased, because it means we're going in a new direction at safety, and not waiting for a former amazing athlete to "turn it back on".

I wouldn't have any problem with a rookie safety whatsoever. Anything is better than what we have now.

Thinking about this a bit more, the only way I could see us playing veterans at Safety (without using FA) is if RW takes a pay cut and we keep Henry.

Henry plays on obvious passing downs, and Wade tries to keep RW near or around the LOS.

Perhaps JJ will wait to see if we can get a rookie Safety we want in the Draft and then decide what to do with RW and Henry?

If he plays like Roy did his rookie season then I'm all for it.

S seems to be one of the easier positions to work in a rookie.

Couldn't disagree more. There's A LOT of cerebral stuff to learn for safeties. Formations, motion, shifting, route combinations, coverage combinations, etc...

Mentally it's one of the hardest positions for a rookie to play.

I hate the notion that rookies can't come in and contribute immediately. Other teams in all sports have done it time and time again and they win, too.
