I can't believe you would be comparing Flo's stats to anyone's. The guy is washed up & is beginning to be an embarrassment to the team with all of his dirty play. We should have drafted either Beatty or Vollmer in the 2nd round this past draft.

Now, we're forced to use either a 1st or 2nd in next year's draft on an OT. I would love it if OT Anthony Davis, Rutgers would be there when we pick, but he's shot up everyone's board already. Maybe either Fox or Carimi.

I've never seen Flo get abused like McKinnie did against Carolina a week ago. As I recall, he put Peppers in his place. One week doesn't make a player.

Flo has his issues and is on the downside, but washed up? He still dominates some good players out there. Ask Tuck. He can't wait til Dallas replaces him.

If you think a trip and a shove in season makes a dirty player, you don't watch alot of football. If Flo was dirty, he's be an All Pro every year.

Not sure that OT is the priority that everyone's making it out to be. It looks like Cowboys have THREE starting caliber tackles already on the team. And Free can play both right and left, that is the swing tackle right there. Brewster is still a work in progress, but it would be foolish to count him out before he is actually healthy for one season.

If anything, the Cowboys need help inside_a player who the Cowboys can plug and play at the center or either guard spot.

Now? Yes.

Next year? Unlikely.

Our biggest off season need in most peoples opinion is OT.

Next year? Why?? Which of the following o-tackles are free agents next season?

Flozell Adams?
Marc Columbo??
Doug Free???
Robert Brewster?

Adams is ageing and I am one of his biggest supporters on the forums, if we can get a Jason Fox falling to us in the 2nd round, jump on it.

Go to Washingtonpost.com's NFL statistics. Look up each player individually.

Counting Flo as a starting quality OT may be risky.

Fox is a good one and Cowboys would not have to reach/move up to get him (ie Anthony Davis). I would prefer Ducasse over Fox though.

But if Cowboys draft only one tackle in the next draft, I like small school prospect Jared Veldheer (Hillsdale) and Army's Ari Villanueva late on day 2. Both are impressive athletes w/huge (literally) upside and/or versatility.

According to both STATS LLC and Pro Football Focus, Adams has allowed seven sacks and committed 12 penalties, and McKinnie has allowed eight sacks and committed four penalties.

Pro Football Focus also rates players. I don't put much weight (if any) in their ratings, but they have Adams rated 62nd out of 76 tackles as a pass blocker, fifth as a run blocker and 47th overall. They have McKinnie rated 22nd as a pass blocker, 65th as a pass blocker and 40th overall.

People also keep forgetting Leonard Davis can play OT. He played LT for several years competently with the Cardinals. I don't think he should go back to LT (although that was the backup plan if Flo wasn't re-signed and is why Jerry paid him a premium to play guard knowing he had that versatility) but I bet he could do fine at RT if need be.

I was looking at their QB rankings and was shocked at where they put Romo. I'll grant he had a couple of bad games against Denver and NYG but it seemed a bit extreme.

False start did not miss the pro bowl because he is a dirty player. His skills have been seriously eroding over the last couple years. Romo must have nightmares about him. He is tripping people because that is all that is left in the tank.

I know that you keep saying this (Bigg is better at RT) but Davis' worst season was at RT. Davis actually prefers LT if not playing OG_this is straight from the horse's mouth.

That's a darn shame. Some people are very foot dominant and can't just flip across the other way. I think Jacob Rogers had a hard time playing RT compared to LT.

Well, if Davis can't play RT then we are probably better off as we are because I think Free will be a better LT than Davis is at this stage of his career.

I just get frustrated with his pad level in the goal-line situations. He is a tall, big man and I think opposing tackles are diving underneath him and creating a huge pile right at the LOS. That is the downside of being tall.

A solution may be to move him more to a tackle type position in those situations where the opposing player is less able to sell themselves out in the same manner.

I don't think Davis is a bad guard at all.. I just think he is a bit too much feast or famine as a pass protector at that position. Perhaps Houck can continue to improve these two aspects of his game because on the other plays he is lights out. I guess you have to take some of the good with some of the bad.

Kosier is much more consistent in his play. He knows his assignments and will only rarely whiff on a protection. He is excellent in space just like a guard should be. Conversely, he isn't the best drive blocker.

I do think Free and Kosier will make for a very athletic left side of the OL next year and I am eager to see what they can do.

Too bad my dreams of Davis at RT and some roadgrader 6'3 330 pound RG (think a young Larry Allen) will never materialize. It would have been awesome.

Anyhow, I can live with this for next year:

Free Kosier Gurode Bigg Colombo

Hopefully Brewster can take Colombo's spot in a year or two as I would like a better athlete at that spot.
