I would 1st read the book of John as a baseline gospel. Then alternate Paul's letters (Romans, Galatians, Ephesians, 1&2 Corintheans, etc) with the writings of the Old Testament (Ecclesiasties, Proverbs, Psalms)
Ecclesasties is a great directional book for men, IMO.
Romans is the best of Paul's letters for non-Hebrew people, as it was written to a group of Gentiles (non-Hebrews) who didn't have the benefit of knowing the Hebrew Bible (essentially the OT).
Skip Leviticus - Deuteronomy for now... It is the laws and sacrifice details of the Hebrew people pre-Christ. It is good study, and important... but in my opinion should be tackled after you have a good, firm grasp of the new covenant.
I recommend materials by Ray Vander Laan as study aids. His video's are awesome. Here is his website:

I teach adult Sunday School & lead a men's Bible study group... I don't know all of it, but you can ask questions anytime - just PM me.
Oh, and I highly recommend studying with others... find a small group to join, or start one yourself. You will get more out of it if you can ask questions and discuss with others.
