How do you think Emmitt feels about his prediction right now?

I think it's a prediction and nothing more. In other words, entirely meaningless and ... who really cares?

7-9 was a fair prediction to start the season IMO. So was 8-8, 9-7 and any other number of calls. Emmitt's was critical, to be sure, but not unfair. Now, 3-13 would have had my eyes bugging out.

I would imagine like all those guys, he probably doesnt even remember what his prediction was.

Dumb butt sanders said all hell would break loose by week 7 or 8 without buffalo bill and that romo and witten were not good enough to help this team.....He is a complete moron and it is insulting that he is a tv analyst.

I wonder how Rick Gosselin feels about his "Commanders are a dangerous team. Watch out for Jason Campbell this year !!" predictions.

I guess in my opinion it was somewhat unfair, but i see where you could say just very critical.

Like many of us, I think he cares more about the team than his own predictions.

Show me someone who make poor predictions about NFL teams or players, and I'll show you someone who never makes any.

what hits him harder than his prediction was his poor comments about romo, who is having a pro bowl year, bordering on mvp.

I wondered what he was thinking when he said this, and i wonder now how he feels with us being one game away from his prediction. Still love him but want to see him asked about this one and eat his words.

Anyone can answer that question IF they choose to actually read what he was saying. He made his prediction based upon the team would challenge themselves to be the best and he didn't see it at that time.

I can kinda respect that sort of prediction. It's not like he made his prediction based upon the belief that the team couldn't be better than other teams (i.e. the Giants, Eagles, etc.). He didn't know whether the team had the passion necessary to become one of the best teams in the league.

There's nothing that much wrong with what he said. He basically said, "Show me". That's different from the "Oh, Romo fumbled against Seattle" or "They can't win a playoff game" or "44-6" or etc., prognosticators who wrote off the season before season ever began.

They set their 8-8, 7-9, etc. [strike]proclamation[/strike] predictions in stone. I don't feel the same could be said of Emmitt Smith's.

We went 9-7 last season with Romo missing three games and playing hurt for several games after that. Unless he was predicting Romo to get injured again, I don't see how 7-9 is a "fair" prediction. Romo has had at least a .600 winning percentage every season as a starter, and he's suddenly going to drop to .438?

Yea, Emmitt defiently has egg on his face right now.

Predicting 7 wins for team that is currently 6-2 kinda makes you look like a dumb arse.

Im not hatin on Emmitt, Im just sayin he missed the mark pretty badly here.

I think after the offseason we had -- one in which we focused on dismissing petulant but skilled players -- there was a lot of uncertainty surrounding this franchise. Truthfully, did you never wonder what the offense might look like without T.O.? Did you have that much trust in Roy? Did you know Austin would step up?

Not to mention what I think was the crutch of Emmitt's argument: That 44-6 loss exposed the underbelly of what was a gutless Cowboys team and that the loss, coupled with the dismal way we shut down Texas Stadium, would transfer over to the 2009 season.

No, I don't think taking that "leap" was unfair -- Romo's winning percentage be damned.

To be noted, as I said before, I also would not have found a 9-7 or 10-6 prediction to be unfair. Yes, I think it was fair to question this team's mindset and offensive ability given the Eagles loss and T.O.'s departure, respectively.

this team was decimated by injuries last year. Its not even close to being the same team.

Emmitt is like that big brother that you want to prove yourself to. Don't get him wrong, Emmitt loves the Cowboys and wants what's best for them. I remember those comments very well. However, I took nothing negative from them. Tough love is what it was to try and motivate them. It looks like they are playing with a chip on their shoulders this year. Between the media saying we had no reason letting T.O. go, to we don't have any receivers, to Romo can't win a big game - Emmitt's comments are no more different. Well, this WAS a big game and I think Romo and these Cowboys are learning what it takes to win. I'll bet you somewhere Emmitt is somewhere drunk off his *** smiling about what just happened today.

Tonight's win could define what we will be made of in December. The league will learn to respect the :star: soon enough!!

FWIW, "decimated" means a reduction of 10%.

romo is having a decent year, but there are like 5 other qb's playing better.
