i havent been paying much attention to philly this preseason but it seems they are once again scoring a lot and allowing a lot of scoring again. just like last preseason.

last season philly was one dimensional. do they seem that way again?

I just went back and watched the Eagles 1st quarter scoring drives against GB.

GB made ZERO defensive substitutions even when Philly did. GBs linebackers were TERRIBLE. Most of Bradfords passes were to RBs, who were all poorly covered. GBs linebackers were out of position on runs and passes and had no strong pursuit.

It was almost like GB didn't come to play. Philly sure did and just made them look stupid. You have to be physical with Philly and disrupt them. GB didn't even come close to doing this.

So while it was a fine effort by Philly, GB was pretty pathetic.

My take away from the short footage was the Lee and Hitchens have to have accurate and fast pursuit while filling lanes on runs and screens and they also have to be stellar in pass defense when they are isolated with RBs.

Marinelli likes to rotate his defensive line players into different packages depending on down and distance.

How did he defend against Egirls last year? Who will play when and how this year - especially since our depth at DL is a strength. Will this strength be nullified?

We play the Giants.

Didn't see GB play them but why would they show them anything?

You have to fill your lanes, protect the edge and flats, and limit over pursuit and cutbacks. They get a lot of out limiting defensive changes. You have to have pressure and containment while having coverage and the LBers are particularly important; esp with a horizontal game but for any defense.

IDK what kind of OL they will have nor how good the QBing will be. They will run both a horizontal and vertical passing game. Their offense will be a handful unless the OL has problems.

Last year they gave up something like 400 pts and that should have been the majority of their worry.

I wonder if we come out in a Big Nickel or just try and stop Murray first.

I come out with a DL of Lawrence, Mincey, T. Crawford and Gregory in game 1 and switch Mincey for Hardy in game 2. They are suspect up the middle and that is the best way to disrupt their gimmicky scheme.

They will have to be careful putting Gregory on the edge esp with a good running attack; at least early on. He's got to prove he can set the edge, contain and make a play right at him.

Again IDK what kind of OL they will have. We were weak up the middle some last year but I think we will be much better this year. Teams are likely going to have probe us all over this year which is good; and not as good if we aren't fairly sturdy all over.

How is Chip Kelly going to attack our defense? How is he going to protect his fragile QB from ensuing onslaught of our pass rushers?

I was wondering if someone was going to reply in this fashion.
ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK!!!

Get in Bradford's face! He'll throw it to the other team! Dallas was second only to Seattle in takeaways last season. With a pass rush, that should improve.

Make every play a street fight. Pound them - Pound them - and then Pound them some more.

I can live with this.

NFL rules allow substitution, if the offense makes personnel changes even in no huddle the defense is afforded the same courtesy.

Play man coverage. Simple. Bradford doesn't run, so that gives you an extra defender to double the RB since 90% of Chip's passing plays are girly dump offs to the RB.

Not having a deep threat will be their downfall.
