1. Will RG III be the starter. They could potentially pay him as much as 22 million for two years.

2. Does that put the #2 over-all on the trade block?

3. Does this give Dallas their choice of Goff or Wentz?

4. If Dallas was serious about Wentz, do they need to trade with Cleveland to protect their selection?

5. Could they still take a QB and use RG III as the starter until the drafted player is ready?

5. Did the Browns figure out a way to screw themselves again?

why should it?

1) the browns could still be looking to draft a young guy and have RGIII Mentor him
2) the browns could be doing what the browns always do and sign a popular name, then draft one, and order a longer qb jersey to fit more names on them
3) they could well go w/rgIII and call it a day AND THEN someone could trade up ahead of us - making this even more likely now IF they got the qb they want.

so it doesn't change a thing. the only ones it really messes with are those sold we're taking a qb at 4 so they have to rethink things long after they already rethought them for a dozen times.

Trade Scenario

Titans - can do as they wish they have the top pick.
Browns - Same as Titans
San Diego - wild card for QB, but unlikely
Dallas
Jags - Have a starter
Ravens - Have a starter
9ers - could move, but still have Cap
Dolphins - have a starter
Bucs - have a starter
Giants - have a starter
Bears - Interesting - they have Cutler, but...
Saints - again interesting possibility
Eagles - this is a concern, but they traded to get here
Oakland - Maybe
Rams - they have the ammo to get there, but do they ahve the desire.

Most of the ones who might be interested in a trade also will need to come big or stay at home. The price for the 2nd over-all is steep, so I am reminded year after year.

My opinion is Wentz is the QB with the most upside and appears as time passes as the real deal. I do not want a short time player for one contract. Not with the currency 4 brings. I want the fasce of the franchise going forward. Romo will be here for a couple of years. This gives the team time to groom the heir apparant and perhaps the best teacher to do so.

With a resurgence of a 2014 result and a little draft magic, and late FA moves, this team could have both a great season and its future secured.

But this takes vision. Something I am afraid the FO doesn't always exhibit.

It's unlikely to change anything afaic. CLE still needs to draft a QB. RGIII is nothing but a flier.

Not to mention Hugh is quoted as telling rgiii he will most likely have to face high draft pick qb competition as well as Hugh and off cord attending wentz pro day. The only duo to do that. IMO smokescreen or not they have legit interest in wentz regardless of rgiii.

I'm not interested in selecting a player who will be gone after his first contract over the possibility of a franchise player that could very well still be on the team in 2027.

Thanks to all of you for answering.

I don't know how true this is but you sure bring up a good point. If this is a 4 year rental then give me the guy that can be here for up to 10 years.

This. Why draft a QB when you just paid RGIII $22M?

They didn't pay him $22M. There is only $6.75M of guaranteed money in the contract which means it will be easy for Cleveland to cut ties with him after one year if they draft the QB of the future with the 2nd pick.
