Middling to Bad,Watson is OK but he may never be a good NFL QB.Infact colleges are not producing good QBs anymore, you are not getting ready to play QBs .

That's why you have to take one when one is available........

You never know who will step up their game before the season. There could be several QBs become top tier talent. Before the 2014 college season Wentz and Lynch were unknown nationally.

Hey you. Stop saying truths. We need to take a QB at 4 no matter what!!! Even if our scouts say they don't grade out as future franchise QB. :p

Really though your right. 2 of the big 3 QB's in this draft came out of nowhere and the QB that was considered the must have before the start of the season (Hackenberg) is now one of the QBs posters on here are praying we don't draft.

So if every QB class is awful, what's this league gonna look like in 5-10 years?

next year's class is bad.

Also, people knew who Goff was coming into this year. Wentz was known by many as well. Paxton Lynch kind of snuck up on people though.

http://BAN-INCOMING-IN-3-2-1/draft2017QB.php

1 Deshaun Watson*, QB, Clemson - YUCK

2 Brad Kaaya*, QB, Miami

Height: 6-4. Weight: 209.
Projected 40 Time: 4.72.
Projected Round (2017): 1-3.
2/20/16: 2015 was a rough year for Miami and Kaaya had to battle through with a weak supporting cast. He completed 61 percent of his passes for 3,242 yards with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions on the season. Kaaya didn't develop significantly over his freshman year performance. He needs to mature physically and mentally in order to be a high pick.

Kaaya has a good physical skill set and has displayed some pocket-passing ability to go along with poise. In 2014, he completed 59 percent of his passes for 3,198 yards with 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions
Kaaya had a ton of talent around him as a freshman in the form of a stud left tackle (Ereck Flowers), wide receiver (Phillip Dorsett) and running back (Duke Johnson).

my wild card is

Chad Kelly, QB, Ole Miss
Height: 6-2. Weight: 215.
Projected 40 Time: 4.75.
Projected Round (2017): 2-4.
2/20/16: Kelly showed development late in the 2015 season and was playing well for Ole Miss. For the year, he completed 65 percent of his passes for 4,042 yards with 31 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. It was Kelly's first season starting for the Rebels. Prior to that, he played in the junior college ranks for a year.

Wasn't Wentz seen as a mid round quarterback till the FCS championship and Senior Bowl though?

Yeah he is one I have my eye on. I think Kaaya will be the top QB but Kelly has a chance to be a real good QB and possibly move into the first. He's also the nephew of Jim Kelly, fwiw.

Problem is if an elite QB or two end up in the class they will be top 5 or 10 picks. If we avoid major injuries we will probably be drafting no higher than late teens. At that point it would cost a lot to move up to top 5 territory. That why if we thing Wentz and/or Goff have solid potential this is the year to strike. But all indications are we'll pass and have to wait til at least next year. But unless we want to pay a fortune to move up we will probably be looking at QB's no better than Wentz/Goff at our spot in the first.

But knowing Jerry he'll wait til Romo is done to find a replacement like we did with Aikman. And if not for lucky out on undrafted Romo we wouldn't have found one when we did.

I saw him listed as a 2nd with a chance to move into the first back then. Some speculated he could move into the mid first if he had a good showing and then suddenly he went to top 5.

i thought i remember him being labeled as a 3rd round player but that might have been shortl

Going into the year he seemed like a fixture in the 2nd round of most mocks. Started to see 1st round talk towards the end of the year and then the top 5 pick talk started.

Pretty bad unless they take a qb and groom him on the bench for a while. Not many teams get the opportunity to get a big time prospect and actually let the kid learn. That's why I like our unique situation.

I'm with you. I think we're in the perfect situation. And I wouldn't want a kid who wouldn't want to come here and learn from a great QB for a few years. I heard rumors that Goff wants to start immediately. That's not the type of attitude I want from my future QB. I want a kid who knows he has a lot to learn and is willing to do so. That's why character and intelligence is just as important as all the physical traits.

I would question the sanity too. Which qb would actually perfer to go try and be a starter in somewhere like Cleveland, where even if you're decent it will be hard to develop. Vs coming here and learning and eventually play behind a great oline. One seems like a much better career path.
