News: How does this run defense get fixed

1. Acquiring legit DLinemen at all 3 or 4 positions. No more Haydens or Woods types. Need starting types, not rotational types.
2. Get tough LB's. Parsons is a good start.(Never thought I'd miss Bradie James this much. )

simple front 7 playing like a GROUP flock to ball gang tackle..defense is more of a single entity and should play in sync..issues have been so many holes all over have had the defense out of sync

do your job first and then go find the ball, tackle well and hope your boys comes in and help.....

Aaron Donald decides he wants to be a cowboy? I was just kidding but that would be nice. I think we are looking at bettr year in 2021. Our front 7 on paper is better and while the secondary has ? marks I think we will be middle of the pack.

We need pressure from up front and have to tackle better.

Get a new DC and staff, draft 8 defensive players, sign Keanu Neal, Tarell Basham, Carlos Watkins and hope like hell they all pan out and jell as a team quickly.
That's really the only solution at this point beyond getting a lot more turnovers.

Hopefully adding a new defensive staff and new players that better fit the new defensive system will help improve the defense.

What is "fixed"? Top 10? or top 20? They will not make it into the top 10 until they invest in the middle of their defense, starting with the DTs and working their way back to the Safeties. When they get DTs who can penetrate, collapse the pocket, stuff the run, the defense will be top 10 regardless of who plays LB.

At least we're trying now!!!!!

Need Lb's that can diagnose a play and react quickly. And their read and reaction needs to be correct. And be physical at the POA while doing so. Parsons misses sometimes but at least he trusts his read and reacts. He will hopefully get better in this area with NFL level film study and reps. Jaylon is terrible at this. Wolfhunter is good at it, just been banged up. So misses the physical part at times.

Mickey brings up a good point that the run defense was #11 in 2019 and 31 in 2020 with not much turnover in personnel. Some will point to scheme. I am not a big believer in scheme at the pro level. Much more about execution.

The defense got pounded with injuries early and some more later. Defense was missing 4 starters and the offense was a turnover machine and slow starter early in the year.

If the offense scores early and does not turn the ball over and sustains drives, the ‘run defense’ will be super. Because opposing teams will be throwing more and have less opportunities to run the ball.

The offense has not scored early in many years. That is the biggest issue with the ‘run defense.’ Score early and often and there will be no problems on the defense.
