How early would you draft Aaron Lynch?

Classic case of physical talent vs mental makeup. And then factor in our need at WDE and the lack of guys capable or playing the position in this draft, I could see us taking the risk on him earlier than expected if we miss out on Barr at 16 and there is a run on edge rushers in the late 1st/early 2nd.

I think I would actually take him in the 4th and hope his head is screwed on right if we haven't gotten a WDE in the 1st 3 rounds.

4th wouldn't upset me too much. Of course later is better, but 4th is justifiable for a guy of his potential.

No way on a 4th. You can still get a quality player there in a deep draft. It's not a pick where you take a huge risk.

Now 6th round? I'd take him.

Lynch is a severe mental risk. Massive.

This
7th or bust

I honestly do not know anything about the player but I believe that you have to roll the dice on troubled talent. Vontaze Burfict is the Burfict (sorry -- couldn't help it) example.

5th round works for me.

How? Am I missing something? Ok, so he left ND because he was homesick/wanted to be with his girlfriend. Not the most mature thing in the world, but he was 19/20 at the time and doesn't have any off the field issues as far as arrests/suspensions that I'm aware of. Severe mental risk seems like a pretty huge overstatement in a world where athletes are committing crimes, doing drugs, ect...

He's worth a later round selection. He has first round type of talent. 10 cent head though.

probably the 7th, maybe I'd take him in the 6th if I got a 6th pick and felt really good about the draft at that point.

One of Lynch's issues is his weight. He was listed at just 244 pounds by USF at the beginning of this season (weighed 249 at pro day), and he attributed his lack of weight to his use of Adderall:

As of now, he's been projected as a Day 2 or early Day 3 pick. The Bengals probably shouldn't consider him until late in the third round

He said at the combine everyone asked two things, why he transferred out of ND, and why he lost weight. He said there was no other reason than his girlfriend at the time, who he ended up marrying and then, as he told us, got a divorce a couple months ago. He's tweeted recent pictures with her though, so I believe they're still together.

I don't think he is even on our board

If I were an NFL personnel guy, I'm questioning him hard on that one. I mean it's Notre Dame, he was a freshman all American and left. And with line-mates Luis Nix and Stephon Tuitt next to him, he'd be a first rounder with 3 years in game experience. instead he had just two and I don't think he's going in the top 3 rounds. He's just been one of those guys who makes you say. "it's always something with him

In his one season here, it was always something. Taggart benched him for the first quarter of a game for violation of team rules, he also benched him when he had back to back boneheaded penalties, then Lynch proceeded to sit at the end of the bench for a good few minutes.

The one time he spoke to the media during the season, was after the Bulls dropped to 2-8 and were heading into the UCF game. He said "UCF is a good team but USF is a great team" . We were all kind of dumbfounded. USF almost beat them though. He's really something else.

I am a little biased since he wore the golden helmet briefly, so I will try not to sound like a homer...but, I would use a 5th on him unless we already strongly took care of the DL through the 4th round

5th maybe 4th.

Has he had any legal issues?

He looked like a leader when they showed them in the pre-game team huddle.

At ND with his weight reported at 270, he looked like a 1st round pick.

He was highly recruited coming out of HS and I was stoked that he signed on with ND...alas, when he left, it saddened me....

5th and I wouldn't even question the decision.

Some of you are talking about taking a guy in the second (Easly) who has blown out both of his knees, but don't want to take a kid in the 5th because a girl got his head screwed up? Every man has been turned around by a woman and many men have made horrible life decisions because of that. This kid has elite physical ability and I believe a guy like Marinelli can turn this kid around.

Barr in the first, Creighton in the second and Lynch in the fifth. Let the hounds loose.

What do you guys think of Ethan Westbrook? Small school guy but he's got some ability. He's interesting.

I might pull the ultimate troll and trade up for Lynch in the first. That's right...I would be the Troll Commander.

Not really. I would take a shot at him with one of my 6 7th round picks if he is there in the 7th.

Going in I am pretty sure that all of those 7th round picks are not going to make the team and since I have a large number of them I might take more chances with them.
