How ecstatic would you be if the Cowboys won the Super Bowl?

I'd legit cry. Then, I'd be the most insufferable Cowboy fan alive for how much BS I've heard talked about the team. I don't care; I'll be an *** about it.

Happy but sad. Happy that we won but sad because the Jones would believe they were the only reason why and their ego would become even bigger, so it would probably be 40 years before sniffing another one
It wouldn’t matter. Because , when the Cowboys win, it’s bigger than any other team. It crushes all the haters souls. Which is so incredibly satisfying

Off the charts. It would be my first time.

I was in diapers and thus not aware of sports the last time the Cowboys won a Super Bowl.

The old timers are lucky-aszes to me, imo.
It’s the best

It would be awesome but I’ve been around for all of em. Got spoiled in 90s....didn’t appreciate it like I should have I guess because I look back on that now and think....WoW that was something special. Didn’t seem so at the time
It was cut short , before it should have. Egos, destroyed something that could have been like what the Patriots did recently.

When the Cowboys won in the 70s, I barely remembered them (besides I was a Skins fan until Tony Dorsett joined the Cowboys. I lived through the 90s dynasty, and that first Bills Super Bowl was as good as it gets.
I don't think anything can top the first one. Where have I heard that before? ;)

It
Would it be like off the charts?
Would change my life forever. I'd have a new ring to add to my case, probably get 100k in the mail, and I'd get to see countless thread saying Jerry sticks and he gets no credit for anything since it was obviously McCray and Dan Quinn that did everything, DESPITE Jerry's best efforts to screw it all up.

Well, let’s just say I’m gonna ugly cry and be so damn happy, and that long dry spell of 20 something years will quickly dissolve and that hole in my heart will be filled!!!
Be filled until the draft when everyone would be back to talking about how much Jerry sucks.

It's hard for me to think differently than that as well... I guess all people who have experienced some of the past dynasties feel that way. It's still hard to wrap your head around the parity in the league (Outside of Brady/Belichick). There have been 2 or 3 other Cowboys teams that could've won it all since the 90s teams IMO, this is probably an addition to that count and if they won it would be an amazing surprise but the season has been overall already (like you said). No way after week 1 would 99% of us thought we'd be 8-3 with a top tier Defense and now a top 10 caliber offense. The Green Bay game gave me renewed doubts and reminded me what being a Cowboys fan is about. That type game hasn't been an anomaly for Cowboys teams anymore. The franchise certainly still has the capability to lay an egg at any time. That didn't happen much during the Jimmy years or Landry years even.

So far the Cowboys have lost to two future Hall of Fame QBs this season and another QB Jalen Hurts who’s in the MVP conversation. I’m still not convinced we can beat a top notch QB when it’s all on the line. It’s our tendency to lay an egg at any time that has me very cautious. If the Cowboys lay one in the next three weeks a lot of fans are going to jump off the bandwagon.

Yes, I would be thrilled, of course. However, in the long term, I know I would have to endure the narrative that Jerry did something special which he did not.

Let me explain:

There are 32 teams in the NFL. This means that there is an "average" probability of any NFL team winning a Super Bowl in a 32 year span.

I start Jerry's span at 1996, the season after the Cowboys won the Super Bowl with Jimmy's team.

By the way, winning just one Super Bowl after Jimmy was an historical underachievement. Looking at the team's composition and Jimmy's way of doing things, that team should have been dominant for twice the length and should have won 4-5 Super Bowls.

Anyway, the start point is 1996 which means the 32 year end point is 2027.

Therefore, if the Cowboys win just one Super Bowl in that time period, then it will only satisfy the Law of Averages.

Winning one Super Bowl would merely strengthen Jerry's legacy of mediocrity.

Now, having said that, I'm not slamming the door on Jerry's opportunity to redeem himself and prove that he was a successful GM. If the Cowboys were to win the SB this season and the 2023 or 2024 season, then I tip my hat to him. I realize that this statement should be true all the way up to the 2027 season. However, time is not Jerry's friend.
