How Far Could He Drop? Not Far Enough Probably.

Maualuga Injures Hammy

USC LB Rey Maualuga ran between 4.78 and 4.85 in his first 40-time, but will not be able to complete the rest of his workout after injuring his right hamstring near the end of his first 40-yard dash. Two weeks ago he had strained the same hamstring, but said today that he felt a pop in the same leg and will now have to wait for results of a possible MRI to determine the extent of today’s injury. He is now likely to workout at USC’s Pro Day.

Texas DE/OLB Brian Orakpo injured his hamstring during the DL drills, but later said that it was just a minor injury and that he should be ready to perform drills for scouts/coaches at Texas’ Pro Day in late March. He had done 31 reps of 225 pounds, ran between 4.63 and 4.70 in the 40-yard dash and had a 39.5″ vertical.[/FONT]

Cincinnati DE/TE Connor Barwin ran between 4.64 and 4.69 in the 40-yard dash and had a 40.5″ vertical… a lot of teams that have interviewed Barwin have spoken to him about possibly even converting back to outside linebacker.

I really just don't like the USC backers much.
They played behind stellar front 4 guys all their career and have seldom had to deal with blockers at all because of it.

Prolly partially just my bias but also just seems too much tape of them getting trucked by blockers.

I am watching Maclin though to see how far he falls.
That kid is a play maker.

If Rey Maualuga fell far enough for dallas to make a play for him I'd seriously consider being nice to Nors and thinking he's a genius when it comes to football.

Since there is no shot of that happening there is nothing for me to have to worry about in that regard.

Maclin won't be falling. There is a good chance now, since he ran a stellar 40, that he might leap Crabtree as the first WR off the board.

I doubt he will but I think it's possible. Maclin from what I saw didn't do anything to hurt himself in the drills yesterday.

I think that's going a little too far. No one should be nice to Nors.

I never understood why they wasted an entire Senior Bowl week working him at tight end.

He reminds me of Antwan Peek for some reason.

I agree, not a TE.

Besides the fact they both went to Cincinnati, I don't see the resemblance. Some say he's another Vrabel. Now that I get.

I had actually forgotten Peek went to Cincy. That might be the connection I am making.

He is getting an MRI on his knee which you may already know about but is never a good thing. Even precautionary as they label it.

But in general I agree that him slipping much is just my own pipe dream.

Rey would be a great pick in the 2nd

top 15, no

so if we could nab him at the top of the 2nd, I would be ecstatic

I'd do Rey or Laurinitis in the 2nd, depending on which safeties are still on the board.

To use a Mayock line here...

'Too much good tape for him to drop in this draft.'

I don't see him dropping that far in the draft either.

Maybe Dallas will try to trade up to get someone in the top 10 in the 2nd.

Ya never know what Dallas is thinking right now.

about USC players, but according to Mayock, there's alot of " bad tape " on Michael Johnson from G-Tech and some teams are taking him off their boards in the 1st round.

If he falls into the 2nd round ( which I HIGHLY doubt ), the Cowboys need to jump ALL over him. And I mean as soon as the first 4 to 6 picks go off into the 2nd round, they need to be on phone with EVERYBODY trying to move up.

Mayock is right, there is alot of bad plays that sho Johnson to be inconsistent, but his upside is just too great to pass up.

my boy Zach Potter has just ran the 40 at 4.9 both times.

With his size ( 6'7, 280 lbs ) and that speed, I'd love for Dallas to spend a late 4th round pick on him ( if he's there ). Perhaps their own 4th rounder, or one of the comp pick they're supposed to be getting.

I think Zach could replace Canty without any trouble.
