Sure he does I think Tony needs to be more patient sometimes and he will be just fine

Definitely. I believe he can be a regular season MVP and a Super Bowl MVP if the stars align. No one can question he has the talent but will he have the brains, the team success, and the health? Only time will tell.

Does he have what it takes to win the big game?

Yes or no?

Yes, however, all QBs need support from their teams to win the SB -- even the Elite ones.

Recent examples:
  • Aaron Rodgers threw for 0 TDs and 2 Interceptions (55 QB rating) and had his worst game EVER statistically in the NFC championship game in 2010 against Chicago and his defense had a good game, limited the Bears to 14 points and the Packers went on to win the Superbowl.
  • Peyton Manning threw for 3 TDs and 7 Interceptions including a game he had a 39 QB rating in one of those games in the 2006 playoffs and won the Superbowl. The Indy defense helped carry the day and they won the Superbowl.
So there is two extreme examples -- two guys in the top 5 all-time (statistically) who had absolute clunkers of games when it mattered most in the playoffs the year their teams won the Superbowl.

At some point Romo will likely not play well and the TEAM will have the pull the Cowboys through.

Yes, of course. I just wish Cowboys fans would step up and support him more. No QB can do it alone as evidenced by Perrykemp's example provided about Manning and Rodgers.

This right here.

Of course Tony can win....not busting the OP's chops here at all, but this subject is SOOOOO dead to me...Tony is the QB, he is very talented, he has the tools in place to be successful...theteam just needs to be healthy

Pretty much sums it all up.

I think everyone here for the most part thinks he can win, he just hasn't had a good enough supporting cast except in the passing game (Dez/Miles/Witten). A strong passing game can only carry you so much, sometimes during games your passing game will falter and another part of your team will have to step up. Also, just to add to the examples above about those QB needing extra help at some point. When New Orleans and Green Bay both made their super bowl runs they each had elite turnover numbers from their DEFENSE, I haven't looked at those numbers recently but I believe they were both top 3-5 in turnovers.

Even the best of QBs need help, not just Tony Romo.

Romo is good enough to win, lesser QBs then him have won SBs. He's not good enough to do it on his own though get a D that can hang on to a lead and a OL we can run behind and just about any half decent QB has a shot. 2 minutes to go in a win or go home game down by 3 and my money is not on Romo getting us in the endzone so if we wanna win we need to build a team that doesn't put him in that situation

I never realized that in 2007, Romo had the HIGHEST QB rating against the Giants in the playoffs.

11 years into this QB's career and we sit here "wondering" if Romo has what it takes to win the big game..:)

Wow...

No, I don't think so BTW.

Suppose that's just another way of saying he hasn't been on a championship winning team during the first 10 years of his career. Not sure what's "wow"-worthy in that. It's true of a lot of guys.

Took Peyton Manning 9 years before he got his ring and the rip on him from college until the colts won the SB was he could not win the big game. No one says that now.

Give Tony Romo a top 5 defense and I think you will see a much different QB. I read the other day that Ben Roethlisberger has had a top 5 defense every year that he has been starting but one and that year they finished 9th (2006). Not coincidentally that was also Ben's worst year.

I know that Tony Romo has to feel the pressure to outscore his opponent and that leads to some forced throws. I would love to see us have a great defense and a solid running game just one season and then evaluate Tony after that.

I love how it's "11 years" Lol. He's actually played starting qb 7 seasons. And actually only 4 seasons where he started all 16. Two can play the numbers game

and the simple fact he has only been in the league for 9 years hard to blame him for years he was not even in the NFL. lol

"But ... But ... You're not counting his high school years, those count as well."
