How good is McClay?

I keep hearing Mclay is the star and about his talent acquisition . But i am not seeing how the Taco and LVE and other FA acquisitions have benefited this team . The defense cannot get worse than it is .
How good is Mclain if he is making the decisions ?

Defensive drafts have sucked from 2016-2019. 2020 may have broken the string, but it's too early to know.

Special teams draft anyone? McClay is doing an excellent job

Trevon Diggs was solid, CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup, Travis Frederick, Zach Martin, Dak, Zeke, Byron Jones(turned the corner here before he left)... The vast majority of decent players on this team came from the draft.

Bro, you're walking into the operating room halfway through the procedure and complaining about the mess.

Have a seat in the waiting room and relax. Let the surgeon work.

Hashtag McClay4Life
He's the OR tech and Jerry/Stephen are the surgeons.

Our Cowboys have been very successful in drafting good players, & the majority of that credit goes to an elite talent evaluator named, Will McClay.

he doesnt make the decsions on his own and coaches and others influence final choices. lets not dump it all on him, Garett, McCarthy , Marinelli, nolan all had hand in FAS and the draft the last 4-5 years..mostly good picks..all teams have duds or medicals effect production etc the struggle between Marinelli and Richard caused some odd ball picks front and back that didnt mesh this is why the defense is mess add nolan comes in a tried to purge this change the system and now we have 3 different POVs mixing players on the filed in 2020 hopefully this gets major adjustment.

yes Jerry and WM let them make these mistakes but they tried to appease the coaches give them the grocery's to cook the meal and well the shopping lists were flawed..

He's assisting with the acquisition of talent, that acquisition of talent has not been 100% accurate, therefore he must suck.

It's the way of the zone

He is not making decisions, he will make recommendations and he will set up the draft boards and FA evaluations but there is only one guy that makes the final call and we saw that on the McGovern pick. The room seemed to want to take the trade and for sure his son but Booger stayed with the board and ended the discussion immediately. McClay didn't even speak up.

Ah yes, that time when secret GM Stephen was on video for everyone to see trying to advise his dad to take the trade and was shut down with the quickness.

And you STILL have to read about this stealth GM.

And yet you think McClay is a somebody and rag on him.

I believe McClay has a good eye for talent, but no one in here has a clue if upper chain of command value it on draft day.

He doesn’t get to make the final call on each pick.

I think the Taco pick was forced by Rod Marinelli; just like Trysten Hill. LVE looked like a superstar as a rookie and his arrow has pointed down since due to injuries.

If you look at the Cowboys' drafts since McClay took over they've had more hits than misses. I think they've actually done better than most teams in this regard; it's just we tend to remember the whiffs more.

We can't even truly call a pick like Chido Awuzie a bust. He may be an average player overall; but he's been a starter when healthy; and that's what you look for in draft picks.

Bout to find out!

Not nearly as he needs to be if they continue with Stephen Jones' preferred free agency strategy.

How you gon' find out if he isn't making the decisions and never did?
He never has made the final call. He is the facilitator.

And he has had some misses it that role.

Big time. Like Charlton. Soon to be Vander Esch.

The whole thing here is accountability. Nobody has it.

McClay can't claim a W on any significant Dallas draft pick.

The coaches still have a say.

That is why our current method is just wrong.

There is zero direct accountability. It is all about a "collective decision".

That is just gutless and will never result in true success.

And why nobody can judge him with all honesty.
