Washington managed to beat several teams which played some of their worst games of the season at just the right time. So, I'l have to admit that some good fortune (not luck) fell the Commanders' way.

Ok, I'll grant that week 15 last year was the worst game Dallas played the whole season.

I'll also admit that game 2 involved some good fortune for the Commanders (missed FG by Dallas could have made the last 2 TDs moot).

But if you tell me that the outcome of both those games were based purely on luck, and also not great play on the Commanders part when it mattered, then I think thats way off.

The fact that Dallas came back the next week and beat Carolina at Carolina, tells me that we must have played pretty darn well the week before.

You are contracdicting yourself in your own post.

good fortune can be equated with luck.

True, but the best teams (particularly in the post salary cap era which has effectively ended teams that have pure domination over the league) tend to capitalize on their own luck.

Look at Pittsburgh. They won the Super Bowl, but were down in the wild card game against Cincinnatti before Carson Palmer went down...then Indy and Denver probably played their worst games of the year against them (in terms of turnovers and sloppy play), and in the Super Bowl they benefitted from a number of questionable calls.

They are still the Super Bowl champions though, they still got it done in the clutch, and its hard to say that all of that is luck.
