How good was the Chief's defense during the playoffs?

Yep, sometimes they do but what are you going to do when they hold playoff opponents to 19 and 23 points and the offense sputters and can't score enough points to win baby?
I mean unless we want Micah to play QB also..............you never know do you now??????????? :muttley:

Defense matters. Granted KC had a ridiculous qb you can't bet against but if it's good and solid, you can win a great deal. Also having a run game reeeeeeeally helps.

Which is why they'll probably win it next year, and they might even add a good WR like Mike Evans. If so it's over.

Put that with a QB that only throws one interception in the playoffs and you got a Super Bowl win. That’s some serious complimentary football.
Generational Great QB + great defense + great coaching + great GM = multiple championships, shot at one every year (Mahomes)
Great QB + decent defense + good coaching + good GM = occasional championship, shot at one most years (Aaron Rodgers)
Good QB + great defense + good coaching + good GM = occasional championship, occasional shot at one (Joe Flacco, Eli Manning, Brock Purdy)
Great QB + decent defense + avg coaching + avg GM = long shot to win a championship (Joe Burrow)
Good QB + decent defense + good - avg coaching + avg GM = The Cowboys since 2000
Avg QB + avg defense+ avg coaching + avg GM = no chance

Holding Baltimore to 10 points in a big game on the road was probably the best showing of any defense all season. Throw all of the PFf grades and advanced stats out the window. 10 points.

Very good post.........in other words, it all matters, and even then, injuries to key player(s) can throw you a curve ball.

And yet it was DQ that was the “hot commodity”. Lmao. Good riddance to that hack.

BB and Brady and Pioli did it for how long?

That was where the Boys were from 65-85 ALMOST
Had a shot nearly every year but did not have the great QB often enough.

To be in the mix every single year requires every single facet of a franchise to be excellent if not great
BUT if one area is not very good it will drag all the others down

The current top of the hill has it all no doubt. Reid was always an excellent Coach he just lacked the great QB; stuck with Upchuck McDuff
and of course he was at Philthy which will always corrode you over time

Now he is at KC where he is basically worshiped as a Deity
And he has got the player who I do think is right now at the very cusp of being the GOAT and arguably is already there
PLUS he has an excellent staff and the franchise is excellent as well
he does have a weakness in the area of WR which does need to be improved; and if they are able to keep the rest of the team together and healthy and add a top WR and a complementary one, plus someone that can at least partially replace Kelce, the rest of the league should just mail it in

Damn......but some say defenses don't win championships

THIS reminds me of the year Peyton Manning and the colts won it all; Bob Sanders who was a truly great safety but always injured, and several other members of the Colts D were healthy at the end of the tear for about the only time and they were great in the playoffs and were the primary reason the Colts won it all
Go back to the year the Saints won it all and it was their D in the playoffs that really got it done

If you do not have a D that can make the plays when it matters you are not winning it all despite an offense and even a HOF QB

100% .......I have said many times, if you notice, most, if not all Super Bowl winners have at least TWO elite playmakers on both sides of the ball.

going way back now

The Fins D of the early seventies was called the No Name Defense but they had Buonoconti at MLB; Jake Scott and Dick Anderson as a great safety duo
Griese at QB; RB Csonka and WR Warfield; the first triplets one could say

Agree but Lamar is amassing a record similar to Dak’s as far as postseason chokes go.
