While they have lost a few players to free agency and have age concerns here and there, do you think they will be contenders again this coming season?

I think they will be right up there. What are your thoughts?

IMO, they'll be contenders as long as they have Brady. Brady and Moss should be good for a lot of TD's this season alone. The defensive scheme will be good even though they're getting a little long in the tooth in some spots.

So, yes, I think they'll be contenders but likely not the dominant team from the first half of last season.

Plus, in their division it shouldn't be too hard to come out on top.

i think the opposite guys,

in my mind i see the patriots falling this year, remember now brady got beat up some at the end of the year, Moss is older, sure still younger than T O, but he is still older,

they lost too many guys in my mind, and their linebackers are getting long in the tooth, and their best defensive linemen i think is on his last legs

plus the fact now belichick the cheater cant cheat now, and teams will be changing their signals now, knowing that the cheater cant copy them

then there was like 13 players of the patriots that got in trouble with the law this year, thats 13 incidents this year alone

so i think their day to reckon for cheating is coming and pay day will be this year.

just my opinion, and dont forget the loser of the superbowl generally doesnt get back to the playoffs,

now im not saying the patriots will be losing big, i see them maybe 10-6 something like that, the colts, jaguars and chargers will overtake them this year,

Their schedule is ridiculously easy and Brady and Moss are still Brady and Moss.

13-3 at a minimum.

they are on a slow downward spiral, they remind me of the team right after the cowboys last superbowl.

theogt, i agree about their schedule its easy, but i just have this hunch that the patriots are going to get hard this year by injuries, in fact real hard,

i know someone posted about not talking about religion, im not going to try to go there except for this, when you are arrogant, cheat and lie, eventually God wil have enough, and let you have it,

and we all know how the patriots have cheated the past 8 years heavy, i feel now they are going to reap what they have sown, goodell didnt do what he should have done, so now the Lord will deal with them this year, i just have that feeling, plus their age etc on defense and their loss of offensive linemen and richard seymour i feel is on his last legs like harrison is, along with their 2 inside linebackers and they lost one of their best cornerbacks in asante

and teams are going to want to pay them back for cheating too, add all of that up and boom, i think they are going to get it along with the old saying.
the super bowl loser in the super bowl doesnt make it the next year to the playoffs,

Spot on........that schedule is a JOKE................... 14-2 and at the least, an AFC Championship bid.

Their defense is their problem and it is worser than last year.

I dont see any fall off at all. They have a good blend of youth and vets. Had a nice draft. Decent FAs.

2nd year of Brady/Moss/Welker will be sick again. They actually had some injuries at RB all year. They return Maroney/Morris/Faulk. Great DL and good LBs.

They'll be in the SB IMO.

Kinda early to be picking super bowl participants... other than Dallas, I mean.

They have the easiest schedule next season and the team is still very talented. AFC champs again IMO.

They'll still score a ton of points next year.

No team can match Brady, Moss, Welker.

Their LBers are older.... but there depth this year at LBer is much better.

Their secondary is a ?, but they are still good for 12+ wins.

We may get Chargers-Patriots III this year.

I expect a drop off.

But given how outstanding they were last year, they could have a significant drop off and still be quite good.

I think too many people are giving them too much credit. Their O line showed some real vulnerabilities that other teams will try and use. Their LBs and Secondary are NOT that good, and their D line play is declining. Frankly I think their D will have troubles this year. 12-4 is as good as I can see them getting.

Their D line is becoming an awesome unit. Seymour, Warren and Wilfork are all high picks and young. Seymour missed 1/2 the year w/ injury. I like that group.

Adaliaus Thomas is an awesome LB. They drafted two highly regarded LBs. And signed the Jets V. Hobson an active young LB. We'll see how it works out but they did make some changes.

Their weakness will be D backfield.

I 2nd that.

Those guys could make another run @ 16-0 with that schedule.
