The have the easiest schedule because their division has not been competitive. If the Lynch hit-and-run thing is real, Buffalo may be set back yet again. Miami is beginning a major re-build and the Jets are looking for a QB. I can't the AFC East getting any more competitve this year, and that means the Patriots are going to do very well. We'll see.

honestly I dont care how good they are, because they arnt in our division or even our conference

that said, I think alot of teams were afraid to go after Brady last yr and played scared against them...late in the yr teams like the Eagles and Ravens showed you could get to him, and then the Pats were fortunate to even advance to the Super Bowl after both the Jags and Chargers pretty much outplayed them. The Giants then really teed off on Brady and we saw what happened. I think more teams will really bring the kitchen sink at them this yr...and as others have mentioned, their defense is no longer anything special...I think they'll easily win their division, but I bet they wont win mroe than 12 or 13 games even if they stay healthy again...and I doubt they advance much in the postseason

While they have lost a few players to free agency and have age concerns here and there, do you think they will be contenders again this coming season?

I think they will be right up there. What are your thoughts?

I just looked at the Pats' schedule...it is criminally easy. I think 7-9 teams from last could win 11+games with this schedule

they will be 13-3 because of the craptacular waste of space called the AFC East. they will get a little worse because of their defensive loses and aging but yea with their crap division they will have a great record. they probably lose in the AFC Championship game to the Chargers or Jaguars

I still think the opposite guys, I think the jets can beat them once, then san diego, possibly denver, indy can, buffalo once, pittsburgh maybe, seattle can i think, arizona or heck maybe even oakland-they loaded up on defense this year,

thats 7-8 teams that can shock them, plus now belichick the cheater cant cheat because the nfl security will be watching him, and other teams will change their signals this year, that in itself can backfire on belichick the cheater,

then like one guy mentioned, the eagles, and giants showed how you can almost beat them, teams will come after brady now, adn he is getting older too,

So long as they have Brady, Moss, Welker and Belicheat, they will be very good. I am expecting 12-14 wins from them and another trip to the AFC championship game for a remach with Chargers/Steelers/Colts.

They should be great, but more beatable. They still have a great team, and to make matters worse they play an unbelievably easy schedule with no division opponent really scaring them. I think the loss of Stallworth could hurt them a bit becasue while Stallworth wasn't great, he was good at forcing teams to roll the safety over the top opposite of Moss. When you've got 2 WR's who can do that like Stallworth and Moss can, that opens things wide open for Welker underneath. Without Stallworth, teams can just focus on Moss deep and find ways to contain Welker to a degree and that makes them not nearly as tough when nobody had answers for all three WR's.

Well-compared to the last Super Bowl losers since '00, they've had, by far, the fewest distractions(i.e. Panthers lost their entire OL in FA, Raiders turned on their coach publicly, Eagles had the TO circus, etc). Everyone showed up to their OTAs. They, again, had one of the best drafts.(including a couple of stud LBs-which was their glaring weakness) Richard Seymour is 100%(he played through a nagging knee injury last year-otherwise, they win that SB by double digits) And to boot-they have a creampuff schedule.

They should be contenders.

It's not surprising that there is a divided camp about the Pats. My fear is that they could be the 2006 version of the Steelers, who fell from a previous regular season record (15-1 in 2005), sneak in as a wildcard with a 10-6 record (a #6 seed) and end up winning it all.
