Hey guys, I dont have a draft chart handy. I was wondering if anybody knew what we can trade our 1st rounders for, 22 and 28 should get us to maybe 5 or so if I remember the point values roughly.

If this is correct, does Jerry pull the trigger? If McFadden is sitting at 5, I pull the trigger myself, otherwise I stay at 22 and 28 and pick CB/WR/RB.

Option B sounds better..

How did I know this was another get McFadden plot?

About to 8th.

I was all for trading for McFadden when I thought Cleveland would come back to Earth and give Dallas a top 10-15 pick. Once that didn't happen and I saw the early exit from the playoffs, the McFadden dream ended. Dallas needs are: CB, WR, RB, ILB, OG and SS. In that order IMHO.

Let it go Beast. I did. Dallas is knocking on the door but McFadden is not the person that kicks it down.

#22 is Worth 780 points
#28 is worth 660 points
Total of 1440 that is enough to get to around #8 worth 1400 points.
#7 is worth 1500 points.

In case you are wondering #1 overall is worth 3,000 points.

2 first round picks is a lot to give up for one player, who has never played a down of NFL ball.

Especially considering you have a back who is real good. And you need to find a guy who can come in and give you 10-15 carries and that would be sufficient

I think the point system has probably been changed by most teams now the the large salaries in the slotting process. Especially at the top of the draft, the guarantees scare alot of teams. That being said I like option B, that much guaranteed money on a RB is a salary cap albatross waiting to happen.

Besides, can McFadden block when our opponents blitz so Romo lives to complete his pass, etc. No, we need a CB/RB/WR/ILB/SS/CB (2 of them) in ever BPA when its our turn.

I am pretty sure the chart is pretty accurate and still used by teams

McFadden is a great player in college and I like him, but there are no sure things in the draft and if RB was the only thing we needed to get to the Super Bowl then maybe you try to move up. The fact is we aren't just one player away. We need 3 or 4 and we need to hit on those positions. So we need our picks for CBs, WR, RB, S, NT.

Just look at recent history Reggie Bush is a nice player but is he the third best player out of that draft? Did New Orleans go to Super Bowl with him yet? No and no. Now we are a more talented team than the Saints as they stood in that draft, but it would be a huge waste to spend several picks to go up and get McFadden. It would probably take both ones this year and next year plus another pick like a third to do it. WAAAAY too rich for my taste.

In 1990 Blair Thomas went #2 overall to Jets we got Emmitt at #19. No one really thought the Jets reached for Thomas that year either. Based on that alone lets just stay where we are and BPA it baby!:)

Very true and we have more important holes to fill....not to mention a deep RB draft.

NT and S? Ferguson, Ratliff and Johnson just isn't enough?

Hamlin will be a resign hopefully and we all know Roy isn't going anywhere no matter how much some wish.

CB and WR are no doubt on top of the priority list.

I keep saying that if you give me a Felix Jones and an Owen Schmitt,we will have a nasty,NASTY, nasty running game.I mean nasty.Yeah I like me some Cricket Anderson and I say we keep him and use him in the passing game but Owen is nasty at fullback.Put Owen and Barber in on running plays and Cricket and Felix in on pass or run and whoamammacita look out.NASTY !
Does anyone know what round the Schmitt kid is projected to go in?

if we trade up for mcfadden we will regret it for years. we need to stay put and draft the best available WR and CB.. i really don't care which order.

McFadden is an EXCELLENT blocker. He absolutely destroys blitzers. He knocked one LB out of the Alabama game with a concussion on a blitz pickup.

if we end up with RUNDMC it is because a team was stupid enough to give a 1st and 3rd for MB3

No I feel we do need someone else at NT. Ratliff played well, but I think his best position is end. Ferguson is getting up there in age and coming off a knee injury. Tank played better as the season wore on, but we do not have that guy that can just be a wall in the middle, there is no Ted Washington, Sam Adams, Gilbert Brown type of guy that just shuts the middle down. Good players yes, but more could be needed. Besides, I am not saying spend a first or second on a NT, but if say Red Bryant slipped into round 3 it would be a good pick up. Texas A&M guys just seem to play well in the 3-4 in the NFL.

No unfortunately Roy probably isn't going anywhere, but re-signing Hamlin is not a given, and the only safeties under contract as of now are Roy, Watkins, and Brown. I don't feel too comfortable with that at safety.

My question is?

Looking at the depth of Dallas, and the needs of Miami ----- if Dallas were to move Ferguson, Capenter, and Fascano --- Parcells picks, and depth that Dallas has --- what else would it take with these three to move up in the draft with Miami?

I mean if Dallas offered these three to swap both the first and second round picks -- would Miami do it? Would Dallas?

Miami from this draft would get 2 prior first rounders, Fergy a favorite of Parcellls, 2- mid 20 first rounders, and a late 2nd rounder for 2 awesome picks.

Would Miami include Jason Taylor and/or Zack Thomas in the deal (for Parcells to put his stamp on the team, and for cap savings)? Would Dallas want either of those two?

I can just see a very nice trading partner in Big Bill, maybe.

If they did, could you move Ellis, Akin, and that #2 to Detroit for Williams/Rogers?

If you could do all of this --
#1 pick -- (maybe Darren McFadden/maybe a different trade back down)
Williams/TO at rec.
Tank/Rogers at NT
Ratliff moved the the DT rotation with Spears, Canty, Hatcher
James, Thomas, Burnett -- at ILB
Taylor, Ware, Spencer -- at OLB

3rd rounder on a CB.
4th and on BPA.

Of course none of the salary stuff have I looked at, so none of this would probably work.

Just a thought with knowing that Bill likes multiple picks rather than putting his eggs in one basket, and has lots more needs than Dallas, and Dallas right now needs quality not quantity, IMO. But like all teams, they need to HIT on the ones they do pick.
