if we trade up for mcfadden we will regret it for years. we need to stay put and draft the best available WR and CB.. i really don't care which order.

What if they turn out to be two Bobby Carpenters, though?

Or in this case, Stepfret Williams and Dwayne Goodrich.

Yeah, I know -- McFadden could be Ki-Jana Carter, too.

It's a tough call. IMO this is a weak draft. I know that right now as people start to look at these prospects, everyone is a future pro bowler. But a lot of these guys at the bottom of the first round will be average players. Some won't even be that.

Normally I would hate trading up for one player like that, but hey, look at Tony Dorsett.

2 first round picks is a lot to give up for one player, who has never played a down of NFL ball.

Not when you're giving up two vastly inferior players who have never played a down of NFL ball.

McFadden will be the biggest BUST in NFL history. All the guy cares about is getting his gaurantee'd cheque and ridin' spinners.

I was all for trading for McFadden when I thought Cleveland would come back to Earth and give Dallas a top 10-15 pick. Once that didn't happen and I saw the early exit from the playoffs, the McFadden dream ended. Dallas needs are: CB, WR, RB, ILB, OG and SS. In that order IMHO.

Dallas is knocking on the door but McFadden is not the person that kicks it down.

:star: I once felt the same way about McFadden, but after our early playoff exit, we need to fill other needs first, a CB, RB, and/or WR would be what I would want to target early. Depending upon which has the better RB or WR available when we pick, I would go with that player once we've picked a CB.

Any evidence to back up that outrageous claim?

stepfret and goodrich were not first rounders... but i agree, there are no guarantees.... all the more reason not to move up and spend a ton of money on a top 5 pick.

Going up to get McFadden would be a disaster. The cost is way to high unless we don't sign Barber and Parcells does something stupid like give us the 1st and 3rd round picks his tender will dictate.

Based on us getting no other picks (which I believe we will get something in a trade with Miami for a few players), I would hope to get Felix Jones RB, Arkansas (or Chris Johnson RB, East Carolina) and Reggie Smith CB, Oklahoma in the 1st round, Red Bryant NT, Texas A&M in the 2nd round, Jerod Mayo ILB, Tennessee in the 3rd, and Owen Schmitt FB, West Virginia in the 4th.

That would be a successful draft to me, at least until I see what we do in free agency which I expect it to be at least a CB.

McFadden is going to be a Raider. We aren't going to pay top five money to someone to split carries with Barber. Relax, it isn't going to happen.

We can address two positions of need with our picks as well as get great value in terms of depth at those positions by picking up a RB/CB. Both groups are deep and we can get two starters (assuming someone takes over for Henry soon) for lower contract numbers that allow us to plug other holes with cap space.
