Kiffen absolutely got outcoached in college against Kelly, yet for 2 games we have been basically the only team to "kinda figure out" the Phila offense.....and to top it off playiing with guys off the street... just doesnt make sense...its like we have their scheme figured out, only thing missing is NFL players (Lee, Spencer, Durant etc) to complete the deal!!

I haven't seen the game, but the one thing the Cowboys HAVE done well is tailor personnel to matchup against the NFC E. We were 5-1 in the NFCE this year and have been steadily improving our play in the division over the last few seasons. Strategy and tactics are huge, but sometimes personnel matchup is equally important, especially within the division.

It's a shame that it translated to a 3-7 record outside of the east though.

We were gifted the season opener against the Giants with 6 turnovers. It took a heroic Tony Romo drive at the end of the game to beat the Commanders. Those two games could have easily went the other way and we're talking about a .500 record within the division.

I don't think we have the division figured out. I think we were just fortunate this year in a really bad division.

I think we match up well with them. They have small WR's outside of the white dude with the mullet.

We matched up well with them last year as well.

Speaking from a defensive standpoint, only the Giants have been able to move the ball all that well against us as consistently as teams outside of the division. We are generally able to move the ball against all the teams not coached by Haslett as well.

I wouldn't call it figured out, but we are better within our own division than without.

I agree with that. I chalk that up to familiarity. I think it works the other way too.

I would say we do but it's not saying much.

Agree. Dez catches that pass in the endzone, and we are NFC East champs..... example of how bounces/breaks can make a team look
better than they are.

To the Eagles credit they came up with big D plays when needed.... Dez potential above, 4th down knockdown, 3 TO's, and no 2 pt conversion.

A hand and a helmet ( caused Murray fumble) here and there decided this game

Stopping the eagles is easier than it seems. Collinsworth pointed out the way that McCoy gets yards (fakes like he's cutting, bounces to the outside). Staying in front of him and setting the edge is the best way to slow him down because his line simply isn't good enough to pave the way.

Foles seemingly panics when his first read is gone and again their offensive line isn't good enough to keep him clean.

Start there and defeating the Eagles offense isn't too difficult.

I don't know about you but I'm tired of talking about how close we were to winning the division.

Heck you can go back throughout the season. GB. Detroit. Even KC. The what ifs are very frustrating when you always seem to come up just short every year.

I made a comment on Sturm's blog this morning that at some point, bad luck becomes a trend and not being snakebit. This team is too consistent to call it bad luck.

No offense, but I think youre giving them too much credit. Going 5-1 in THIS division wouldnt be hard for half (or more) of the teams in the NFL.

By the way, my safety comment was meant to get Risen Star riled up and not taken seriously. Defense has a lot of problems, and the safeties aren't perfect, but they are far from our biggest woes. Church is a sick box playing tackler, and Wilcox and Heath are both nice athletes should should improve with time. Our front is woeful.

No doubt our division was poor this year. It was poor last year, Commander's streak not withstanding (that was very fluky btw). That said, going 5-1 in your division is always very difficult, regardless of the quality of play.

They are what they are. I certainly wouldn't call it bad luck.

That doesn't make it any less frustrating as a fan. To be that close every year and miss, only to be left with a lower draft pick. It's pretty depressing.
