How long will T.O. be a Cowboy?

The way T.O. takes care of himself, you know he can play football until 37 or 38 with the same production he has now. His game has never been about speed, though he is fast, it's about being physical.

My question is, how long do you think he'll be a Cowboy? I think we'll resign him and he'll retire a Cowboy. He's obviously bought into the system, he's happy now, and he's a member of the team. He fits in, and he has a QB that he loves that he can finish his career with. Jerry loves playmakers, and that's what T.O. is.

he said he was going to finish his career here

About one year longer than he should.

Most likely some injury similiar to Glenn's, and he will be in Dallas for a year after he can't really go.

Of course he is revving the engines in the meantime....

Cowboy till the end in my opinion....

3 more years at least. Probably some kind of extension after this year.

Because his game is not about speed.... he will go out by choice not because he cant produce anymore.

signs a 5 year extension after this year or next.

I doubt that will happen in large part because Owens has said he has no intent on playing as many years as Jerry Rice. I think the most will be 3 more years before he walks away. He commented recently that Jerry Rice was a guy who lived and loved football which he just likes to compete but does not have the same passion for the game as Rice.

This is exatly why I don't see a pressing need to draft a young WR this year. Not that I am against it if the value is right, but I don't think it is essential. Because the WR's like TO who have taken such good care of their bodies have been able to stay super productive much longer than anyone expected (Jerry Rice, Marvin Harrison, ect) I would say he has atleast 3 more years of being among the top 3 or 4 WR's in the league. And can still be a very productive WR for 2 or 3 more years after that.

Certainly longer than his 3 year contract. Probably another 3-4 years at least.

T.O. ,speed wise, has not slowed down a bit ..... the evidence was in that Crayton TD.

I think he plays 3 years after this one ..... unless he starts making unreasonable demands in salary.

He may be able to play to 37 or 38, but the reality is his abilities and speed will start to slip ... and once it does, it'll crash really fast.

I think he has one more year with us. We need to start looking for his replacement at the end of this season.

No, he won't stay as productive till age 37 or 38. But to expect only one more season from TO is more than a bit crazy. Even TO has said that he is going to retire a Cowboy.

I would say 3-4 more years after this, he will retire a Cowboy.

You guys think he goes to the Hall of Fame? And if so, you think he goes in as a Cowboy?

I'm pretty sure he said in an interview recently that he would go into the Hall as a Cowboy :starspin

I think a few more years at his typical level of production would give him the necessary numbers (though a SB trophy couldn't hurt ;)).

Football players don't go into the Hall with a certain team as they do in baseball. But unless he plays five or six more years with the Cowboys the Pro Football Hall of Fame will list him as a primary HoFer for the 49er franchise and a minor HOFer for the Eagles and Cowboys franchises, since he has played most of his career in San Francisco.
