How Long Will The Starters Play Tonight?

I was really hoping that we'd get an extended look tonight but Texans don't plan on playing their starters much, so I doubt Garrett will have the starters in there for more than 1 q. If they do play a lot I hope to see Devin Smith, Doran Armstrong and Wilson (the safety; I forget his first name) get mixed in with the 1s and see how they do.

Not sure what else there is to look forward to in this game. Most of my pet cats (I don't think Pollard qualifies as one) are looking at practice squad at best at this point, so I'm now on the Smith and Wilson train.

Jelks and Jackson have looked fine in spurts in places but that's usually against 3rd teamers. I'm sure Lawrence will be ready by game 1 but right now with Quinn out for 2 games and Gregory out indefinitely I'm getting a bit anxious about the pass rush. Really need someone (Armstrong, Taco, Jelks, Jackson) to step up, I don't care which.

I think about the same a quarter or so. Maybe a few play a half. And I think the defense plays longer than the offense.
It will still be mostly vanilla style too. Won't see much of anything Moore has planned. Maybe 1 or 2 plays, but no more than that.

The offensive issues had more to do with injuries to Fredbeard and Martin then not playing much in the preseason. We also had no playmakers at the reciever position. We will be ok as long as Martin and Tyron start practicing soon.

I am not saying their red zone problems had anything to do with not playing in the preseason. I am saying they are not good at it. They need to play and get good at it, so that they come out firing game 1

Get used to it man. Most teams don't play their players. You don't want injuries to your stars in meaningless games.

Honestly, Garrett doesn't owe the fan anything. If he's smart, they get 1-2 series tops and then they all hit the ice.

I hope the starters never hit the field. I know they will. But my opinion has evolved to where I don’t think it’s worth risking your best players in a stupid meaningless game like tonight.

PS games at this point should only be used to make final roster decisions on rookies or FAs. There is absolutely no reason to risk playing your best players. The regular season starts in 3 weeks. Playing the starters for a half or qtr to “get their timing right” or “get them ready for the regular season” is just an old myth.

Garrett just said in pregame the starters would play a couple series. QB's in order are Dak, Rush, and White.
