How Many Fans Want Flozell Replaced?

Flo has played much better this season from the standpoint of not being a matador, but the penalty problem is still there. Flo is the most over rated player the Cowboys have ever had, and he does not continually shut down top notch players, he is just off to a good start this season. Last year he was ranked in the bottom third in the league in rush yards gained behind, sacks allowed, and penalties committed. Most his career has been like this, but as many have pointed out his replacement hasn't fallen into our laps. I would like to see him replaced as soon as possible.

Flozell is quietly one of the Top 5-10 tackles in the league. He stays right where he is.

And he's fired up this year. He actually got really, visibly upset with himself when he made his first false start of the year last night.

He sure as hell wasn't last year when he was bottom third in every meaningful lineman stat. Over his career he hasn't graded out as being worth of the money he makes.

You suggested he just had a strong start to this year and he doesn't consistently do it. So you're basically gonna ignore his injury last year?

And what about the 07 year? You know, the one when we put up all those records

anyone holding what the Hotel did after the infected hand and the shoulder problem is a total moron. He shuts down BY HIMSELF most of the best pass rushers in the league. Only idiots and those with NO FOOTBALL KNOWLEDGE argue otherwise. Yes his penalties are maddening=but still a big plus for us.

Yes I would love to replace Flo. No there is no replacement on the team. IF there was someone we thought could step in and do the job Flo is doing then we should.

We definitely need to make finding someone to play LT a priority going forward, but just because Flo has to be nearing his last legs here in the next few years.

(accidentally posted this in the wrong thread)

It's almost like fans believe that an average LT is capable of "filling in" for Flozell and routinely shutting down terrific pass rushers the way Flo does.

But without the penalties!!1!!!1!

Health willing, Flozell is our starting LT in 2010. We should be so lucky.

I rather talk about replacing: Bobbie C., K.Hamlin, Hurd, Austin and Proctor...
Flo does his job..

People will want a replacement for him to be on the team so they can be groomed to take over. That is different than a replacement for him right now.

In other words he is getting older and we want someone here ready to take over for him when it is time. We don't currently have anyone on the team to do that right now (Free might eventually but not right now IMO). We might get someone in the draft that can take over him next year but we have to consider where we draft and if we can actually pick a player that is good enough to take over and that could be questionable with our recent history of drafting O-Linemen.

So are we ready to replace him right now...not really. Penalties are annoying and hurt the team but all in all he is still a pretty good player for us and there are other teams out there that would take him in a heartbeat over who they have.

Do we need to start looking for his replacement for the future...yes. Whether Free can do that or we need to draft another LT or get one via FA. Personally I would like to see Free work out or for us to draft some good O-Linemen and get off of the current trend of not getting quality O-Linemen in the draft. Seems to be much cheaper than having to go out in the offseason and pay FAs.

.......what brain paint said goes for me. Flo has been a VERY good LT for a VERY long time that simply has brain cramps that drive people nuts.

Going back from the 2007 season to the present one Flozell has had 32 penalties in 35 games. That is not even one penalty per game. His penalties "killed" 15 drives in that time. That is not even 1 drive every other game. I figured a drive killer would cost Dallas 2 or 3 drives per game or at least 1 drive per game.

I agree that a future left tackle needs to be found. I don't think anyone on the current roster will be good enough for the position once Flozell is gone. They need to do a good job and find one on the next draft. Flozell is doing a great job right now and that is a good thing. When healthy he has always been a very good left tackle.

I agree however I do think Free has a chance to develop into a good LT for the Cowboys.

We've been trying to draft his replacement, but we haven't succeeded. Eventually, we're going to have to find one.

We've never been in position to draft a true franchise LT.

Exactly. Frankly, even w/ his penalties, Flozell is one of the best at his position right now. Short of bringing in a pro-bowl establish LT like say Jordan Gross (who pretty much took care of Ware btw), there's no reason to even think about benching or cutting him.

I'd say draft a replacement. Though...Jerry has been trying, but hey, maybe next year haha

Maybe it's just me, but FLozell neutralized Osi Humanurine's pass rush He was going up against Julius Peppers Monday night a lot and did a great job there too.

Flo will have his hands full with Dumervil on Sunday. That guy's got 6 sacks (though, 4 vs Cleveland, 2 vs Oakland so...read into those numbers what you will).

Did a quick once over and checked out where the pro-bowl LTs for the past 20 years were drafted. Only a few (3-4) of them weren't first rounders and most were top-10 picks including several who were top-5!

Interestingly, Flozell & Larry Allen were among the few who weren't first round picks. (Allen was primarily an OG but played LT for a year or so and was selected to the PB at that position in 1998).

If we want to find a replacement for Adams then we will need to trade up into the top-10 at minimum, more likely the top-5, if we want to get one of the better LTs coming out.

Getting a top LT on the cheap has not worked out. Free may make a decent one but I see no sign he could be a top one and the Hotel is one. We need to look real hard at next years draft and find a way to get a top LT in the draft. enough is enough.

I would like him replaced with the next first ballot HoFer LT to be drafted. Now, after we draft this guy, I don't want him to replace Flo, until he out performs Flo. If that is three years down the road, then so be it.

Today, there isn't anyone that can replace Flo.
