How many of you believe we can win this year's superbowl...

i see no real reason why we can NOT win the superbowl (if all things click and we avoid all injuries) but i'm not at all confident we will even make the NFC Title game due to coaching and injury. For example if TO gets hurt again we're a mediocre playoff team. Our December fade has been happening for years and years with no end in sight.

believe we are winning this years Superbowl?

I was exchanging emails with a friend I hadnt seen since the before draft. While evaluating each of our teams drafts and where they stand it hit me. I'm pretty fricken confident that we are winning it all this year.

Very similar to how I felt prior to the 81-83, 93-96 seasons. We are the best team, we will win the Superbowl. As was the case in those years, my confidence can not be shaken.

So the question stands, are any of you as confident as I am?

I'd especially value any feedback from the readskin trolls.:D

Oh yeah. My expectations for this time this year are astronomical. We SHOULD win the NFC easy and atleast make it to the championship game, if not representing the conference in the SB.

Peter King has us as the shoe-in NFC contender this year. If Pacman is reinstated, the wheels would REALLY have to fall off for us not to be looking at another 13-3 season and a good playoff run.

Our long playoff victory drought comes to an end this coming year, ladies and gents, I done had a vision!

Not only do I think we'll win it, I'll be extremely disappointed if we don't. Personally, I think we have the deepest and most talented roster in the entire league, and that includes New England. Their defense is getting old and ours is full of young talent. With the additions we've made in the draft and IF Pacman gets reinstated and stays out of trouble, WATCH OUT NFL!!!! We're deep and talented on both lines, at LB, at running back and TE, and now we have talent and depth in the secondary. I also think the sudden end to our season last year will serve us well this fall. Surely it will stick in each players' mind about how they felt losing their first playoff game against an inferior team. You have to think that will provide much motivation for this season. I think the only thing that can stop us, as with any team, is injuries at key positions, particularly at WR. You just can't try to figures injuries into the equation because they're a complete unknown. I wish we had picked up a good vet receiver, but if we keep our guys healthy we'll be O.K. there. Who knows, we may yet get another receiver before the season starts.

BINGO!!!!! We went 13-3 last year under almost a completely new coaching staff and defensive and offensive schemes. We accumulated more talent, lost nothing, and have a full year under the current coaching staff. We should be better than last year.

I believe we have the talent to win it all NOW.

The problem is... the best teams arent winning them every year. ie: The Steelers, The Giants... you could probably lump a few Patriots SB wins in there also...

The HOT team wins. The HUNGRY team wins... "Hell we aint been hungry since we won the title" back in mid 90's

Talent-wise - I believe we can win it all
Mentality-wise - I have many doubts

we got quite a few more new coaches this year too.

Yes, but the headcoach, coordinators, and the schemes are still in place and we're now going into the second year with them. Position coaches aren't as important as the schemes remaining the same. We'll be better.

Do you know why this is the most intelligent response of the thread?:hammer:
Because it most closely matches my feelings on the subject.:laugh2:

We went 13-3 last year and we fixed two of our three biggest weaknesses. We also added a veteran presence on defense who is also (most likely) an upgrade over the person who was playing that position.

We didn't add a receiver, but its not like our receiving corps got worse. I mean, Stanback now has a year of experience. And we could still add a receiver before the season starts.

I would say we have a very good chance

Lets win a playoff game first shall we? Or better yet, lets win a game in December.

I checked it out and think you're on to something here!
Everyone of the first 42 Super Bowl Champions won a few playoff games before they won the Super Bowl.
In fact I think it was some sort of requirement to qualify.

Damn those playoff games.

I've felt that we are the front-runners (at least in the NFC) for the past two seasons. This year is no different.

I've also felt that we're missing something for the past two seasons. This year isn't any different.

I know what you mean. I always believed (in the 90s) that when the game was on the line, we not only had the talent to pull it off, but someone would make the play.

Now? I believe that when the game is on the line, we have the talent to pull it off. But I am always wondering if someone will make the play so we can.

I think we'll be good again next year. I just hope we get a playoff victory or two next year.

I'll join you in your high expectations for a SB this year... why not? we've got nothing to lose.

:D

I see a lot of negativity on this board. If we can stay healthy late in the season and carry some momentum inot the playoffs instead of limping in nursing our injuries we will be fine .

our team has been very lucky with the small amount of injuries we've had the past 2 years. it's not injuries it's mental mistakes that holds this team back from accomplishing real success.

I don't think we are the best team out there. I still think the Pats, Chargers and Colts (with a healthy Harrison) are better than us when it matters most in December/January. We are weak at closing out seasons and until this changes we will have no postseason success.

I think a big part of our problem has been weakness in the secondary that worsens throughout the year and the inability to run the ball with any authority. If you got Moss/Welker or a dominating defense maybe you can get away with that but we haven't been able to.

So you think the 2 new CBs and 2 new RBs we drafted are not going to help?.

Commanders fan here, so grain of salt here... But you do have a talented roster and you could make it all the way this year. I think anybody with a winning season last year has a decent chance (as the Giants showed). But all it takes is one or two major season ending injuries or unexpected occurance (and Pacman getting suspended is HARDLY unexpected) and you could very well miss out on the playoffs.

Being a pre-preseason favorite means nothing though and you better hope that Romo and Co aren't buying into all this hype at this point. I personally think that was your problem last year. Your team felt like it was owed the super bowl and all you had to do was show. I feel that most teams need a bit of a chip on their shoulder and Wade Phillips isn't helping things by saying he felt the best team lost in the playoff game. Overcome that, and I think you have a very good shot.

That's my feeling as well. We have the talent to win it all, now we just need to stay healthy and not let up.

To me this feels more like the late 60s, when we had the most talent but couldn't seem to win the big one. The difference is that we have our "Staubach" in Romo. We can and should win it all this year.

Amen. And this "Romo can't win with REAL pressure" nonsense is simply crap. Nobody would be spewing that stuff if guys held on to the ball in that Giants game, or guys didn't commit numerous unforced penalties, or the refs didn't blow grounding calls. And the year before it took a serious of bizarre events to turn that into a loss. P. Manning was an embarrassment in his early playoff games (Romo has not been) and look what he's accomplished. Romo performs VERY well in big, nationally televised games in the fourth quarter when division championships and homefield is at stake. Romo is NOT our problem. There is no more talented roster in football. They need to stay healthy and not get sloppy. Period.
