Do you really think we keep 5 guys here?

Especially at inside linebacker we look like there is another 4-5 guys that we might want to keep.

Lee
Carter
Connor
Lemon
Albright

Note: There is no way that I think Hamilton makes it to the practice squad. I definitely think we're going to end up going light at wide receiver, and possibly light at corner, depending on the health of mike jenkins, and his availability for the opener.

I'm gonna say 5 wide receivers and 5 cornerbacks.

I don't think we'll keep 5 ILBs. It's either Lemon or Albright, if we're counting Albright as an ILB now.

I like the original projection on the outside 'keepers.' I think the inside job number could be high as well, if reflecting additionally special team play.

This. Lemon or Albright will likely be cut (barring an injury at the position which changes everything of course).

Lemon seems to be doing really well so far. From the rookie mini-camps he was involved in to the first week of training camp.

He's an under the radar guy we need to pay more attention to. I know he was undrafted but he was a pretty highly thought of undrafted player when he signed here.

Hamilton isn't going to make the team

You can never have too many pass rushers. If Hamilton has a knack for pass rushing, he and the others can certainly be used to spell Ware and Spencer. No reason to have these guys in on every down.

Spencer should probably never see another 3rd down (passing situation)

I think some of the final roster spots will get determined on how they play on special teams. Sometimes that becomes the difference of making the 53 man roster or not.

Yeah, people forget there is a ST coach screaming you guys are killing me I gotta have some players.

exactly, if your talking about 4 string player sitting on the bench well his value is not that great unless he can bring something to the table. That is why it is critical for bubble players to bust their humps on special teams, there have been many players who kept their jobs in the NFL because they could bring that value to the team.

Ware, Spencer, Wilber, Butler and Albright as OLB

Lee, Carter, Connor, and Lemon as ILB

If the cuts were today, then I think Hamilton would make it to the Practice Squad.

He was a Free Agent. Other teams had the opportunity to sign him. He will have to do something significant to entice another team to sign him to their active roster if he gets cut by the Cowboys.

My LB projections are:

Option 1. (8)
Ware
Spencer
Butler
Wilber

Lee
Carter
Conner
Albright ILB/OLB

Option 2. (9)
Ware
Spencer
Butler
Wilber
Hamilton

Lee
Carter
Conner
Albright ILB/OLB

Option 3. (9)
Ware
Spencer
Butler
Wilber
Albright OLB/ILB

Lee
Carter
Conner
Lemon

I suspect we'd feel more comfortable going 4 OLB with Albright as a swing guy between ILB/OLB.

Albright makes the team as an outside LB as long as he stays healthy and continues to make plays on STs.

I am not sure way so many of you think Hamilton is a lock since he has not shown anything yet in a game. Unless he proves to be the second coming of LT in the pre-season, he'll be lucky to make the PS. To beat out Lemon and Albright he'll have to show some ability as well as excel on STs.

Here is the current depth chart (I don't know how up to date it is)

POS First Second Third Other

DT Kenyon Coleman Tyrone Crawford Ben Bass Baraka Atkins
NT Jay Ratliff Josh Brent Sean Lissemore
DT Jason Hatcher Marcus Spears Clifton Geathers Rob Callaway
SLB Anthony Spencer Victor Butler Kyle Wilber
MLB Dan Connor Bruce Carter Caleb McSurdy Isaiah Greenhouse
WLB Sean Lee Orie Lemon
JLB DeMarcus Ware Alex Albright Adrian Hamilton
LCB Brandon Carr Mike Jenkins Akwasi Owusu-Ansah C.J. Wilson
Lionel Smith
RCB Orlando Scandrick Morris Claiborne Mario Butler Teddy Williams
FS Gerald Sensabaugh Danny McCray Matt Johnson Eddie Whitley
SS Barry Church Mana Silva Justin Taplin-Ross

SLB: Spencer is a lock. Butler is not likely going anywhere. Wilber is looking like he's going to stick. That's 3. They need to get snaps for not Spencer to evaluate down the road at this position.

MLB: They have Lee as the Will here but I'm not certain that's correct not that it matters a great deal in Ryan's D. I list Lee as the Sam and Carter as the Will but both will scheme out as both. Both are locks. Connor is likely a lock here but still penciled in. Lemon is going to be hard to displace as he is a player and a STs demon. He's a definite maybe. Albright may end up on the roster as a swing LB able to play SOLB and ILB. If so that gives some roster flexibility to go long elsewhere and this could affect Lemon and Hamilton but not likely Wilber. McSurdy is currently on the bubble and there is not enough data on the fan end to know much yet. Greenhouse is an outlier. That's another 3 for 6 locks.

Jack: Ware is All Multi-Universe. Albright and Hamilton are his depth but this is easier to back than SOLB so there's some flexibility to add extra pure pass rushers here. One lock makes it 7 total.

They are likely going to keep 8-10 LBs. STs, injuries, flexibility and injuries elsewhere are all going to come in to play here. My SWAG is Hamilton, Albright and Lemon all make it.

You beat me to the punch.

Well I think it is a great thing to have this problem for once, instead of a bunch of nothing at the position, now we have some talent to choose from.

Since LBs are the engine of the 3-4, going long on LBs should be more important than going long at say WR.

i think this will be it.

hamilton will need to get good pressure and probably a few sacks in preseason games to push out albright.

i can't see a scenario where we keep all three (lemon, albright, and hamilton).

I could see the Cowboys "hiding" Hamilton so they can sneak him onto the PS.
