hoping (make that praying) the Lions hire Garrett? Thereby opening the door for Shanahan. I know all about our fat underachieving O Linemen that dont fit the Shanahan system. I still think this could happen if the first dominoe falls.

If Jerry wanted Shanahan so bad, why wouldn't he just fire Wade and Garrett?

I shared this info the last few days with people asking in PMs. Might as well share it here.

Jerry is a strange cat. He is literally thrilled at the success Tony Sparano had in Miami. At the success of Sean Payton. The guy is loyal to and loves his coaches.

If Jason Garrett stays Jerry will be thrilled. He has high hopes for him.

If Jason Garrett goes Jerry will be thrilled for Jason Garrett.

Just like with Jeff Ireland getting the Miami job. Jerry supported that 100%.

He is respected immensely for this around the NFL.

Do with the info whatever you wish.

I don't find that weird at all.

Sounds like Jerry Jones is very professional and understands business.

Personally, I believe the only reason Wade Phillips is not in the unemployment line is because he Jason Garrett.

I still believe Jason Garrett has been promised the Dallas Cowboys job, Jerry Jones can't justify that promotion at this point in time.

Accurate, solid posts above. I know alot of people put last year's mess on Garrett solely but I don't. Combination of stupid, selfish players, soft, enabling coaching and attitude from the top of the organization on down, and overall suckitude. Sure Garrett was part of the equation, but he was also part of the equation last season too when the team won 13 games. He's not going anywhere IMO. If he's as smart as everyone says he is, why would he want to coach the Lions as opposed to waiting one year to coach all this talent in a new stadium?

So then why wouldn't Jerry be loyal to Wade?

Getting a perspective after this last year will be good for JG. Interviewing with a crap team like the Lions that is run terribly and in shambles because of it will create considerable appreciation for what he has in Dallas, even as a coordinator.

Just for the record, since I've been silent throughout the season, I STILL support Red and hope he gets the ship righted if he's back in 2009. So no, I hope Red doesn't get the LIONs job and comes back.

I've been hoping for a real miracle, that the Lions would somehow hire Jerry as GM because they need a real one!

I bet he's glad for Payton and Sparano because he got rid of two more decent coaches! And yeah he's real loyal to his coaches, he's had 6 head coaches since he bought the Cowboys and was super loyal:rolleyes: to the one who won him back to back superbowls! LOYAL what a joke!

Good job ignoring the point. That took real effort.

Well, if nothing is good enough for you, who am I to criticize? Nobody.

I'm not denying you received info. I just don't see how anyone who follows the Cowboys with any objectivity can really believe Jerry is loyal to his coaches, his actions over years show otherwise. I think he has comtempt for coaches, especially ones who are good enough to take spotlight off of him. That's all I mean and it's just an opinion!

I know you were just sharing what you heard, I ain't hatin' on you!

Haven't you read about Wade and Jerry hanging out together, with their wives? Hell, I remember one article where they were at a horse race together... I think people that are playing down a Wade-Jerry relationship to boost up a Jerry-Jason relationship will be gladly surprised...Jerry was loving what this defense was doing when Wade took over...

Proven loser or not, I believe Jerry Jones really and truly likes Phillips.

That's why he will not make any sort of move. He really likes and respects him and without a real reason, he will not do it. In a perfect world, Phillips rides off into the sunset and he can promote another one of his favorites in Garrett. That was probably supposed to happen this year. It didn't. So he'll try again. When his contract is up, then his hand will be forced.
