How many RB's do we draft?

I think most of the board is in agreement that the Boys will need to add at least two more CB's to the roster. Even if the PacMan deal works out i think we all expect them to select a CB in the 1st and perhaps one more in the later rounds. We still have Alan Ball who will be in his second year and all indications point to the fact that the coaching staff is pretty happy with his progress. That will give us six CBs in camp.

As for the point of this thread, at RB, we only have MBIII and Alonzo Coleman and we really don't know much about Coleman. So, do we draft two RBs at this years draft the same way we would address the CB position? Do we pick one RB early and one later in the draft? Or do we draft one early in the draft and wait until the June 1st cuts to pick up a vet RB, although there really is no guarentee that someone will be available then?

My final question to the board is that IF we draft two RBs and assuming that we draft the second one later in the draft, i.e., rounds 4-7, who is that late round RB you would like to see the Boys draft?

I don't know if this has been discussed before, if so, sorry for the redundancy in advance. I wanted to get everyone's opinion on it because i'm personally not really sure how the RB spot going to shape up.

I'm only interested in drafting 1. If you find another as an UDFA to add fine but game day rosters you are not going to have 3 RB dressed so why waste a extra draft pick on getting a 2nd RB in the draft?

:starspin I feel we should definitely get a RB early, then, perhaps pick one up in the later rounds of the draft or FA.

we draft one and wait for the raiders to cut lamont jordan and sign him!!

or draft one early one late and a fullback. Plus the undrafted free agents.

Its going to be fun watching all the young guys in camp.

Although I'd rather have Schmitt, it'd be interesting if we were to look at Peyton Hillis on day two. He seems like he's athletic enough to perhaps be a tweener.

Draft a RB in round 1-2, then pick up Hillis in round 4. I'd be down.

The idea of picking up a FB is intriging to me also. Although i was pleasantly surprised with how D. Anderson played when he was on the field. I had forgotten how involved he was in the Buffalo game until i watched the replay on NFLNW last week.

Two. One early and one late. If we only draft one, I'd like to see a vet picked up after roster cuts in September. June 1st cuts virtully don't exist any more.

why in the world would we draft a FB? I still don't understand the desire.

I like Hillis, i think he's got something.

Jerome Felton pretty darn good FB as well.

It's a weak position. Why wouldn't you want to upgrade what is perhaps your weakest offensive position? I don't understand the lack of desire.

Probably the 5th , but hoping he might make it to the early 6th . I don't know , when it gets this late in the draft it's just a crap shoot .

I'd rather go first or 2nd on a RB & then sign a vet RB whose a good receiver out of the backfield & blocker along with his running skills. Hopefully a decent one is out there or gets cut. It's not unusually to see several players cut after the draft.

I just read Draft Countdown's write up on him. He seems like a good third down back although they also say ball security and character issues are a concern.

I think that's the most likely scenerio also. I have been trying to think which teams have a crowed backfield and would likely cut a player after the draft. Someone already mentioned the Raiders, i'm thinking Packers and Gaints as well.

I think that Raiders backfield is crowded today. If they were to draft mcfadden there is absolutely no room for Jordan and I would take Jordan in a heartbeat.

Barber
Jones/Stewart/rice
Jordan.

That would be pretty savvy. And we have the skip peete connection for Jordan to come here.

Why? It is hard enough to balance out enough carries for 2 backs let alone a 3rd
