How Many Rookies Make This Team???

What's the range of new players for a new coach? I would go with a higher number just on new coach. 15.

I'll go out on a limb and say 8 to 9 rookies make this team.

6 is my guess. There just isn't a alot of spots open. The best-chance place for late round picks to latch on seem to be as depth at Corner and along the OL.

I could see one rookie WR, one Center, a couple swing OT/OG, a DT, couple DBs make the team as rookies.

I am a proponent of moving some of the 5th-7th rounders in order to move around in the draft to select "our guys."

could be why his 1st sentence says it's 50 of 53 players on the roster...

Are you saying that we only have 50 players under contract or on the roster?

wow - people just dive in, assumptions blazing.

no - i have no idea why the original poster only listed 50 slots. all i know is he says "50 of 53 slots are here..."

i pointed out the author said that.

now all of a sudden *I'M* the one saying things about who's under contract.

there's this test out there that really whacks out the spelling and grammar of a paragraph just to show people can comprehend it still. yet, when it's just simply dialog on a board, everyone puts their own assumptions first and don't even read what's being said it seems.

From this list (50 out of 53 man roster) I can count potentially 18 or 19 spots. Not all of those will be lost to rookies, UDFA, or FA but I wouldn't consider them locks.

/snip list

I should have read down a few more posts.

I don't know what the official roster is, but considering that so far we have a net loss of players in free agency (lost Fowler, Singleton, Bledsoe, Al Johnson, etc.) it's somewhere around that number. Just posted it as a basis for us to work with. There are several practice squad guys on the list, but I only included a few at positions that were thin (QB & TE). I also didn't include the long snapper - are we keeping him in 2007?

Feel free to make corrections if I left someone off.

Relax guys. I didn't read the 50/53 player thing earlier. I'm sorry. It was a simple mistake. I simply asked a honest question. Ice, if you want to be a ******* about it, nothing I can do. Only recommend that you maybe take a vacation. Perhaps it will help out whatever seems to be ailing you.

Once again, sorry for the confusion. I'll move on now.

I don't know how many make it on the roster this season.
I'm waiting to see who gets drafted. I'm waiting to see if the new coaches and Jerry blow the draft or if they get the players projected to be worth while.
I'm also hoping that Dallas signs Patrick Crayton. I think he's ready, this being his fourth season to step it up and challenge for a spot.
I'm wondering if we even need to add a wr, especially if T.O. is kept.
I'm hoping Austin sticks as he was one of the highlights of last season.
Hurd can go imo.
Glenn is a lock.
I have my eye on that guy out of New Hampshire....David Ball had 93 receptions last season, he had 87 as a jr., 81 as a soph. and proved he was a go to guy in the red zone w/ the td's he produced.
I also like Meachem, Bowe and of course the great Calvin Johnson. :star:

Ladoucer, the Long Snapper comes to mind, Junior Glymph at LB instead of Hoyte who is a FB.

No idea after that.

overall no biggie, dude. i couldn't figure out why - even after i pointed it out - you still thought i had something to do with the original 50 of 53 headcount.

it's a monday man. can't take a vacation from a monday. : )

I posted similarly on another thread the players as of yesterday on DC.com. Crayton will be here next season. He's restricted and I think that we tendered the offer which would give us at least a 2nd as compensation if he should leave. Adam can tell me if that is accurate.

Singleton still listed - not sure if he signed elsewhere yet.

Actually I expect us to keep 6 WRs if we draft a first pick player. Unless Hurd or Austin stink it up during mini & TC both will make this team--don't forget both are also good ST players. Next year Crayton's a FA & he'll be looking for #2 WR offer and big money. Also what are the odds JJ brings back TO in 08?

Wow, totally forgot Hoyte was converted to a FB. DC.com really needs to update their roster info.

I'll also add L.P. Ladouceur. That makes 52, which should be correct if we've lost four and added three. Still, we don't know about Crayton.

No prob. I need to read a few posts ahead before I reply anyways, otherwise I would have seen iceberg's original response and left it at that.

DC.com still lists us as having Glymph at LB as well as Singleton, though I think Singleton was not tendered an offer to stay. If he is gone and Hoyte stays at FB we only have 6 LBs on this team, not counting Greg Ellis.

We only have 2 QBs. I don't count Baker.

We only have 2 TEs. I don't count Curtis.

That's 4 potential rookies right there and it doesn't even take into account Rivera retiring, CB, OL, or WR.

Hard for me to sit here and say we'll draft a TE and LB or 2, but perhaps that isn't out of the question.

Nobodies fault but my own. I honestly didn't read the original post clearly. Ice, nor you, were wrong. I simply didn't get it right off and didn't expect the insuing avalanch. :laugh2:

I don't know why, I've been around the board long enough. My fault, nobody else's but thanks for responding. Good leason for me. Read and comprehend. It's a beautiful thing.

as often as i am guilty of it, you'd think i'd not have been such a smartarse about it. sometimes, it's just like trying to hold it in vs. going to the bathroom. you gotta let it out or there's going to be a mess somewhere i don't wanna be. : )

my bad as well, ab.

No worries. It's just one of those things. It's all good by me.

I agree. Though the starting 22 is pretty much set, just looking at the roster as it is now there's a lot of potential spots that are either open or could be easily upgraded.
