How Many Rookies Make This Team???

No "Dirty Dozen" or anything, huh? I think this teamd needs 8-10 to stick. :)
Will they even have that many picks? The dirty dozen came from an era of 12 rounds.

To be frank if all of Dallas' rookie class doesn't make the team it will mean one of two things: A.) So much stockpiled talent someone has to be sacrificed or B.) Bad draft.

Hopefully Dallas' first four picks are worthy of contributing to the team, anything after round four is gravy to keep but if they don't stick it is no big deal.

Imagine how loaded today's teams would be if they'd retract four teams and return to the 12 round draft. Never happen, I know - purely a "what if" scenario.

Just imagine a draft of players from those four teams (last four - Jags, Panthers, Texans and Browns):

QB:
Byron Leftwich
David Garrard
Jake Delhomme
Matt Schaub

RB:
Maurice Jones-Drew
Fred Taylor
DeShaun Foster
Ahman Green
Jamal Lewis

WR:
Steve Smith
Andre Johnson
Reggie Williams
Braylon Edwards
Keyshawn Johnson
Joe Jurevicius

TE:
Kellen Winslow

DL:
Julius Peppers
Mario Williams
Bobby McCray

LB:
Willie McGinest
DeMeco Ryans

DB:
Donovin Darius

K:
Phil Dawson
John Kasay
Josh Scobee

I'm sure there's many solid defensive players for those squads, but I'm showing my ignorance of non-Cowboys players here - I couldn't name them. There'd only be enough players for about four rounds, but as you can see, it's enough to plug holes on teams and really improve the competition of the league to compensate for free agency.

But alas, a pipe dream.

I'm going to say 4 or 5 make the active roster. I just don't think there's all that much room.

of the draft picks, or the FA walk ons? we've got what, 10 picks and then we all scour the FA market after that.

you know, w/a new coach wanting to do things his way...i almost bet we draft a safety and a cb somewhere. that means bye bye reeves and likely davis.

there's 2.

wr? likely as our others are getting older.
another 1.

qb? we only have (2) really. if we draft a qb, thats another, or 4.

OL? i can see us taking one. 5.

then again the later we pick in the draft, 5-7 rounds, i'd almost rather use 'em to trade up as take more mcquistians and the other dude we took who got hurt and we've not seen since.

I would like to see us bring in 5 solid draft picks. No more. I always like signing UFAs but they are hit and miss. I think that we may bring in 1 solid CB or FS, no more. Of the guys we have on our roster now, I see Davis and Parish Gone. That would leave us with RLW, Watkins, Elam, Hamlin and possibly a guy we draft. Elam and Watkins are both relatively young players. I don't see us bringing in too many young guys at this position. At CB, I see us trying to replace Glenn. Now, this could be done with the FS if he's a good enough cover guy but lets say we bring in a CB. he's going to have to beat out Butler to make the team IMO. That could happen but it's tough to say. Beating out Glenn would constitute a fairly high pick at CB IMO. I don't know if we will do this. If we sign Singleton back, I don't know that we draft another LB. Might be we bring a guy in via FA. If we don't Sign Singleton, then again, that means we probably use a high pick and either move Carp to the outside, try to squeeze out another season from Ellis or draft a talented kid who can rush the passer. NT I can see getting drafted in the 4th. There is a spot a young guy can make it. Any QB we bring in is going to have to beat our Baker and I don't really see that happening unless we use a pick That is 4th or up. We could get lucky but I'd put money on the kid who has more experience in the system, as opposed to a raw QB who's in his first camp. I could see us keeping a couple OLs but they have to make the team and I don't know that we will hit on two of those in a single draft. Unless, of course, you spend a first day pick on them. WR is definatly a possability but I don't see to many lower round guys coming in and beating out Austin or Hurd. Maybe a young kid if we don't resign Crayton but I think we will. Basically, while I think there is opportunity for guys to unseat current players, I don't believe that we have enough early picks to draft them. I think at most, we get 4 guys on our first 4 picks if we draft very well. Maybe one of the 5 thru 7 guys catches a break. The rest I don't know that they make it.
