How many rookies make this team?

Doubt it -- when Jerry was in charge of things most, if not all, the draft class ended up with spots on the team.

Jerry is reluctant to cut his losses on bad picks. Just like he wants to keep guys way past their primes. Jerry hates looking bad so he gives the picks forever to develop when it is up to him.
I agree with you on all counts here.

There is a great chance that at least 70% of this draft class makes the team, if, for no other reason, Jerry feels that if fewer than 70% of his picks make the team, his draft was a failure.

not trying to be a jerk but, what has he done differently? Parcells continually signed free safeties and free agent lineman too.

Will wade phillips have the same foresight as parcells to find undrafted players and practice squad guys from other teams that can help us? I hope so.

Not Parcells; not Phillips; Ireland.

:)

Maybe........Just Maybe..............We should wait until at least after the draft before we start making these kind of predictions.

I know its a slow news day, but this is a little over the edge.

um fellas....how come none of you have mentioned Jacques Reeves...he is horrible. I would rather keep Nate Jones than Reeves.

The team is not "loaded" We have zero depth on the O-line, have pretty much no backups or competition at DT and ILB, need to get younger at nickel CB and WR, could use depth at TE, need a legit FB, and only have 2 QBs on the roster.

"Depth concerns" are addressed in the later rounds of the draft. Our starters are intact for the most part. You don't draft first and second rounders to fill in depth, they are supposed to be players. WR and CB must get younger and those 2 positions should be addressed in rounds 1 and 2, unless one of the top 3 or so OL fall to us in the 2nd (or we use our extra picks to trade up).

This is precisely why I'm really boggled as to why people would want to trade down in the first round... when your team is loaded and has pretty much no major needs, you trade up for special players, not add in more good players. That's what a team that had many major needs would want to do.

I agree. We have no major needs like the year we had no RT. We should trade up if we can get an impact player who will start this year. Since that is likely to be too expensive then we stay put or trade down without moving out of a tier of player worthy of a first round pick.

We have holes in the depth roster but not starters. We can certainly upgrade some starters and absolutely make our depth better. But we have no huge holes.

So these guys make the roster only if they can compete for a starting position? There are 22 starters and 53 spots. That's some odd criteria

Exactly. There are only so many starting positions. We'll be lucky if one rookie starts although they're sure to contribute if only on STs. Personally I'll be happy if we draft a CB who can play on passing downs or a S who could do the same or take over as a starter during the season.

i wouldn't count out pierce yet if he is healthy. we need a 3rd TE and he is a great special teams player. he could help make up for the loss of Fowler on ST.

When you say ireland you should also include Tom Ciskowski, he is just as important.

He was the only scout I beleive that attended The Texas pro day. They showed him there talking about ross with some other scouts on the cowboys blitz show here in Dfw.

No. Depth concerns are addressed throughout the draft. WR and CB are important but if there is a run on those positions, we aren't going to take the 4th best WR or CB if the 2nd best OT is on the board.

Yeah ok great, never disagreed with that notion, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand. What the hell do you need more picks for if all you're doing is packing in more depth that's going to overload the team for the most part?
