How many sacks has Petiti given up? How does he compare to other RT's in the league. A little early to be thinking, but where do we go with our #1 this year. I think Marcus McNeil from Auburn looks pretty good and should be there in the late 20's.

You don't traditionally take a RT that early unless you have a lefty at QB...

Pettiti is doing fine plus he is a little banged up right now...

Considering Pettiti came from nowhere as a 6th rounder to start on the line I say he has been a pleasant surprise to this team and one of the reasons we have an improved offense. He's had his bad moments but I think he's done a hell of a job for a 6th round pick. I think he'll only get better. To have a great O-line you have to hit on some diamonds-in-the-rough. They can't all be 1st & 2nd rounders. Parcells is smart enough to know this.

rob petitti has indeed done one hell of a job for this fine orginization known to the rest of the pretenders out there as the DALLAS COWBOYS.

Uhhh...

No you don't.

Only one of Strahan's sacks were credited to Rob.

Ok, let's say Pettiti is doing fine - The weakest link on our team is clearly the Oline. Flozell's coming back, so we don't need a LT. Allen's having a good year and seems revitalized. We just paid Rivera the big bucks. AL is solid, despite his detractors on this board.

So, who do we replace? We clearly need an upgrade -- so where?

I think RT is the most obvious spot.
I'd also bring in some more competition at guard. Its time to press Rivera and Allen into being VERY GOOD olinemen or just high-paid second-stringers.

What do you think?

Yes he has done a decent job and I think by giving him an off season to build up more strength and continue to work on his technique I think we could have a guy there that holds the RT position down for a number of seasons.

But at this point I think are chances of drafting a first round offensive lineman are between slim and none.

Exactly... a year in our off-season program will show us a different Pettiti...

I agree, I think the big problem is Tucker, although Johnson has been just as average. They've done alright, but not really the quality you look for when you have a QB like Bledsoe and two good running backs. We need some youth on the OL badly. I think we could use another young guard, another Tackle high choice, and maybe a center, one that's strong and has good technique hopefully, not one or the other. Lecharles Bentley from the saints would be an excellent pickup and then move al to backup where I think he belongs.

I think it's weak due to Rob's inexperience, the back injury to Rivera and of course the injury to Adams.

I doubt you'll see any high priced FA's signed for the O-line nor will you see a 1st round pick spent there either.

I think you'll see Peterman be given a shot to compete for one of the spots and I think the improvement will come from Adams coming back along with the improvement due to more experience with Tucker and Adams.

We might pick up an OL that slides into round two but I don't see a first round being spent there.

If Marcus McNeil is available at the end of the 1st rd, it might be a case of BPA, as well as some need. He's a huge mauling type that I think would be great for the running game. Not that Petitti is bad, I just think McNeil has a lot more potential.

I could see us going for a few different positions in next years draft. OL in general is definitely a possibility. What do you think we'll go for in the first round?

Won't happen in a million years. I think MAYBE they spend a 2nd or 3rd on an O-lineman but I don't see them spending MORE big FA dollars on this unit.

Part of the problem is that Drew does make his pass protection appear worse than what it actually is. And Rivera took several games to get back in playing condition.

Peterman will get a big-time opportunity for playing time next year.

I would bet we trade out of the first round all together for more picks.

The O-line is obviously our weakest position right now. Since Flozell's injury, our offense isn't scaring anyone. Rob will improve in the off-season barring any injury and Tucker - well, he's just Tucker. I would think our top priority during the draft is adding some capable bodies.

However, if we're to make a serious run and become a legit contender, we're going need for our tackles to step up and start making progress because our offense is sputtering. We can only get by with giving then help for so long before someone starts to really exploit this weakness.

Off-season, I'd like to see us fix the offense with a good tackle with an attitude, a more imposing center and maybe another receiver.
