How many starters from this FA class?

I'm going to say 3, but honestly it could be 5. Five doesn't thrill me, but it's not the worst thing in the world. I think we're a better football team as presently constructed then we were at the end of the year, and we were a few plays away from being a playoff team.

We're lining up week 1 of the season. How many starters come from this group?

No ifs, ands or buts....pick a number please.

Should be 4 from what I've read.

Carr, Pool, Bernadeau, Vickers.

Four -- Pool, Carr, Vickers, and Bernadeau.

Five:
Carr is a lock

Vickers is a lock

Pool is almost certainly a lock

Connor will have his hands full competing with Carter in TC but I think he starts the season with the 1st team (hopefully Carter replaces him midway through)

Bernadeau at LG to start the season. Im not basing this on anything Ive seen from the guy because Ive never heard of him before yesterday. Just a gut feeling

I hope you are right, however, when I read about Vickers what I see is that the Browns let him go (decided not to resign him) two years ago and the Texas let him go (decided not to resign him) this year. Maybe I am missing something here but none of those teams seemed very concerned about retaining his services.

I don't think he was ever not wanted. His rookie contact was up with cle. Houston signed him at that point because vonte leach went to the ravens. They cut him this year to make some cap room and wanted to resign him. Hes been the lead blocker for the following 1000 yard backs: jamal lewis 07 and 08 hillis in 10 and then arian foster/tate. Even jerome harrison had almost 900 yds. 1 pro bowl and a 1000 yard rusher all but 1 year as the lead blocker. Hes solid...

4. Vickers carr & pool definite. probably connor also

This right here.. i believe it will be 5 out of these 6 so far. I don't know about LG for Bernadeau, but he'll be a starter for us.

I guess I'm not quite understanding why everybody is marking this set of free-agency pickups as the epoch of Jerry Jones turnaround as an elite GM.

Everybody' saying that? I think they're more likely saying we improved three or four positions with a couple capable or good players and any doubling up we do in the draft at these spots will have the luxury of developing a bit before possibly taking over.

And I say three starters.

Carr........obvious to anybody with a pulse.

Orton......Romo's backup, so in week 1 is no chance of starting.

Bernadeau......Depends on if we draft DeCastro or Glenn obviously

Vickers.......Will be starting FB so no brainer here.

Pool......replaces Elam at FS and Sensy moving to SS, obvious starter.

Connor.....will battle Williams for starting spot beside Lee, so possibly.

So thats 3 starters for sure, possibly 4 if we dont draft a G in the 1st, and possibly 5 if Connor beats out Williams for SILB spot next to Lee.

At least 3 of the 6 will be starters, that is a dam good job so far in FA!!!

Who the hell is this "Williams" you keep mentioning?

Meant to say Bruce Carter, my bad.

The "Williams" I was thinking about is was Brandon Williams. He was a linebacker Dallas drafted in the O9 draft. He was selected in the 4th round and never panned out (just like almost everybody from that infamous draft class).

He plays for Arizona currently.

Vickers was on his rookie contract with the Browns. Plus his last year there was Mangini's last year. They were switching to a West Coast Offense. It's possible the new regime decided they wanted to go with someone different. West Coast Offenses have been iffy with fullbacks, lately, it seems.

It's also entirely possible that Vickers would have rathered gone to the Texans because of the opportunity to block for Arian Foster and Ben Tate. They were clearly a better offense and more of a contender than the Browns.

The Texans thought they could save money by letting Vickers walk and then re-sign him once he hit free agency. They wanted him back.

They were wrong.

My answer is 4, by the way.

Carr
Vickers
Connor
Pool

Just seems from all the reports and judging by how quickly we went after Bernadeau that he'll end up a starter for Callahan.
