I think that the Commanders will have about the same number of injuries next year as this past year. My point was that I didn't think that Dallas had an unreasonable amount of injured players last year, so I wouldn't expect them to do better this year purely on the hope that they will be healthier.

The Commanders chief problem is the age of their offensive line. There's just no way those five guys could have been expected to hold up all season, and they didn't. I hope we draft some youth on the line this year, and our 3rd round pick from last year can step up. But the Cowboys also have all five starters who are at least 30.
No way. This is the most we've had in years. Some years we do better than average, some years we do about average, on the injury front. This year was pretty brutal.

Holy crow. I can't agree with that. I have never seen so many in one year to critical players.

of course you dont...your a Skins fan

the fact is we had alot of injuries last yr, and most of them were to key players...some of those guys like Adams and Witten played through them but were clearly nowhere near 100% for most of the season...Romo was never the same after the broken finger...Felix Jones was a huge loss, Barber was never the same after Thanksgiving. We got 3 or 4 games from Roy Williams...Newman was hurt most of the yr...starting LG missed basically the whole season...
TO started every game. Barber played in all but one game. Jason Witten started every game. Flozell Adams started every game. Demarcus Ware started every game. Tony Romo started 13 games. That's essentially 4 missed games from your starting QB, RB, WR, TE, LT and best defensive player. I know that a lot of them played injured, but that's football. In 2007 the Cowboys had a total of 64 games missed by starters, same as the Commanders (I know this because I was complaining about the Commanders injuries that year until someone on this board showed me those stats). Was last year so much worse?

Barber may have played in all those games but he wasn't effective. One game he played maybe two snaps.

Judas! Know what the hell you are talking about before you spout nonsense.

Barber was hobbled. There were questions about if he would be placed on IR at one point. Some of the games he "played" were less than 10 plays total.

Witten was beat up. This guy is a warrior, but he was not 100%. Not even close.

Romo was beat up a lot worse than anyone knows. He came back because Brad Johnson stunk out loud. He could have missed 6 games easily.

Flozell Adams played at least 5 games where he could not raise his right arm above shoulder level.

That isn't even bringing up our Punter who is a weapon, nor the revolving door at Left Guard, nor the fact we eventually had our 3rd string Strong Safety starting.

Wake up.

Ok, I didn't know that. But I still think that for those six critical positions, the Cowboys injury luck wasn't too bad. Felix Jones's injury definitely hurt as did Newman's. But I have the feeling it was a pretty average year in terms of injuries. Maybe someone will show me some figures that prove me wrong though; I haven't totaled all the games missed by starters for the Cowboys last year.

Your feeling is so far off base that a Grandma could bowl the baseball and complete the pick off.

When building a team the most important Positions are

QB- Romo missed 3 games, was not healthy rest of season

RB- Barber seriously hurt his toe, and Felix gone for the year

WR- Roy Williams hurt foot

TE- Witten hurt everything

LT- couldnt raise his arm for a month

CB- Newman

pass rusher- Ware wasnt hurt yay!!!!

Can we all agree on that?

LG - Kosier's foot forcing us to play Proctor - IMO the biggest injury

Most of this conversation, and justification for whatever YOU predict, is about the players, injuries, talent, and the like.

I'm at the place where, not matter what kind of talent or injuries or lack thereof we have, the problem is the virus from the front office, through the coaching staff and on down.............

You can't do much better than last year and predictions. Even the most ardent Cowboy haters had Dallas going "ALL THE WAY" last year based upon talent. 13 Pro Bowlers. A good, if not GREAT draft. As good a free-agency grab as anyone. Romo supposedly "coming into his own" and maturing........

So get "talent" out of the picture when it comes to predicting the 2009 record. Bottom line, is that the same exact agenda, structure, approach and game-plan is in place, and that spells .500.........................

Until the virus of Jerry/Wade/Garrett changes in Dallas, all the players, health, speed, playmakers, whatever......................won't matter. There's a cancer in this organization, and it's not physical ability or about brute force or speed. It's about mentality, disposition and approach toward the game of NFL Football.

It's about a stubborn and "head in the sand" owner/GM and a coaching staff "along for the ride" and not "coaching" players to play correctly.

The Cowboys biggest problem is that they don't "FINISH". They don't "finish" plays. They don't "finish" games. And, they don't know HOW to "finish" a season. It's a "good enough" and "settling for mediocrity" mentality that, to this day, hasn't been addressed or confronted. And, until it is, we're not going to see the promised land.

One of the only guys who "get's it" on this team is T.O. And every time he says ANYTHING about it, he gets in trouble. Think about it...........every time T.O. "does his thing", in one way or another, it's because he's frustrated about WINNING and FINISHING...............maybe he doesn't go about it the right way, but EVERY TIME, that's the root of his rants. This team could use another 44 T.O.'s...............................

This is an 8-8 team until we get a Singletary or a Gruden or a Shanahan, and Jerry takes a vacation every March-January.

An injury free Felix (hopefully)

A battle worn and closely criticized Romo (constructive criticism is good imo)

A stout defense under the leadership of Wade (sucks as a HC but is a good DC)

Garrett out to prove his critics wrong

A strong draft

Ray Lewis in a Boys uni

John Beck in a Boys uni

The triple threat of MB3, Choice, and Felix

...

There's quite a bit to look forward to. I see 10 wins despite the lack of organization at the coaching position.

10. Anything less will be demoralizing with all the talent we have.

Because I'm always hopelessly optomistic when our team has talent I'm going to say 11-5 with a playoff win or two.

I'm sure there are plenty who think that's impossible and that's fine. I find that better than sitting around sulking about how we're for sure going 5-11.
