How many Wins for the Cowboys in 2009

We are definitely better than a 50 - 50 team:mad:

9 & 7;)

On paper, yeah. In fact, on paper, we're an 11-13 win team.

But if this team has shown us ANYTHING the last two years, it's that "on paper" doesn't translate to "on the field".

I've been at this racket for 44 years as a Cowboy fan. And NEVER have I seen such a lack of "intangibles" that I've seen the last 2-3 years. Things you can't measure at the combine.

Things like heart, commitment, guts, courage, a willingness to to whatever it takes to win. Don't see it with this team, and the results have born this out.

Everyones playing for the next free-agency contract. Everyones "in it" for themselves. And not just T.O. either. Barber, Romo, every DB and every other receiver except Whitten. And the coaching staff and owner do little to squelch this cancer.................

Like I said, 8-8. And maybe THEN, by some MIRACLE, Jerry will see what it takes to put a winner together. As of now, he's continuing at the same schtick he's been pushing the last 15 years. It hasn't worked yet, and it WON'T work until there's a fundamental change of philosophy and agenda.

The inmates are running the asylum in Dallas. In this modern league of salary caps and free-agency, the window opens and closes in short order. If we couldn't pull it off the last two years, I just don't see some "magic pill" in 2009..........a sudden injection of excellence and urgency. Not with Phillips at the helm..............................

With things how they are and the present coaching staff i would have to say 8 or 9 wins. Of course FA isnt here yet and the draft hasnt occured but for now and with the Stubborness of our Owner 8 or 9 wins should be reachable. I am sorry but my faith has waned somewhat since the debacle of last year. THey showed me no HEART what so ever last year.

Maybe its not an issue of "heart" like so many think.

3 of the past 4 seasons we've ended up 9-7. Maybe that's what we are. We have the talent of a 9-7 team.

If I'm pushed to guess, we are a 9 win team.
Now that was good reasoning.

With that schedule, 10 wins at least.

But frankly I'm more concerned about the number of post season wins.

Sitting here in a "post Arizona SB-team world".....................

I never really pondered this question until the OP asked it. I haven't fully digested yet this last campaign and a SB that actually had the Cardinals in it.

I remember this time last year, and all spring, thinking "THIS IS IT"!! I've been on board since 1964. So it takes a lot for me to really "get on board" and believe. And I really thought that 2008 was our bestest, greatest shot in a loooooooooong time.

I'm so "left at the alter" and disgusted over recent results that I'm again back to "yeah, well we'll see" mode. I just don't "believe" or trust them. I figure if I expect an 8-8 outing, then at the worst I'll be pleasantly surprised. It's a sad state of affairs, but I've resigned myself to the Chan Gailey/Quincy Carter/Dave Campo-days mindset.

It's a shame, but this team has left me little other option...................

Romo's pinkie, Felix's toe, Barber's toe, Newman's everything, Flo's arm, Roy 11's foot, Witten's ribs, Hamlin's ankle, McBriar's groin, Austin's groin, Kosier's knee, etc.

We were a very banged up team last year, karmas way of getting us back for all those really fortunate years.

We keep all those guys healthy and we're a different team walking out of Pittsburgh.

But why would you expect to be any healthier this year? I see the Cowboys going 9-7 again.

Dallas will have to be healthier than last year...

Do you expect the Commanders to be healthier, less healthy, or exactly the same health wise in 2009?

I find this to be a totally odd thought on your part.

I voted 11 but that assumes we can keep the injuries to key players down.

The roster even with the projected losses of Canty & Burnett, and probably Roy Williams and Zach Thomas is going to be strong...I'm quite sure we'll have a solid draft

Getting rid of Read for DeCamillis was a major upgrade...getting rid of Pac Trash and Tank Johnson are addition by subtraction too

But keeping Wade Phillips after it was grossly apparent the team was poorly coached in December was a huge mistake. If they keep TO its a similar mistake, they've won nothing with him and its apparent he causes issues in the lockerroom.

I wouldnt be totally shocked if this team went 13-3 next yr because they have alot of talent, but if I were betting over/under and the line was 9, I'd bet the under. This is a poorly motivated team that doesnt care enough about working hard and winning, and its unlikely IMO that the results will change much until the atmosphere is dramatically changed again.

I think that the Commanders will have about the same number of injuries next year as this past year. My point was that I didn't think that Dallas had an unreasonable amount of injured players last year, so I wouldn't expect them to do better this year purely on the hope that they will be healthier.

The Commanders chief problem is the age of their offensive line. There's just no way those five guys could have been expected to hold up all season, and they didn't. I hope we draft some youth on the line this year, and our 3rd round pick from last year can step up. But the Cowboys also have all five starters who are at least 30.

Holy crow. I can't agree with that. I have never seen so many in one year to critical players.

.

of course you dont...your a Skins fan

the fact is we had alot of injuries last yr, and most of them were to key players...some of those guys like Adams and Witten played through them but were clearly nowhere near 100% for most of the season...Romo was never the same after the broken finger...Felix Jones was a huge loss, Barber was never the same after Thanksgiving. We got 3 or 4 games from Roy Williams...Newman was hurt most of the yr...starting LG missed basically the whole season...
