How Much Did We Improve on Defense?

Im excited about Parker too. But claiming the cowboys would have won 2 more games with him alone last season is a bit much considering he has never called a play yet in a game. No?

As fans we WANT to be hopeful and positive. (Not to derail the thread but) IS Dak REALLY in the best shape of his life? Have we REALLY improved the defense?

Can we have ONE snap first?

I agree. This offseason seems to be a big step forward for them. But we can’t count chickens that aren’t hatched yet.

The Jones media apparatus has full propaganda crowning Christian Parker as the best DC in the league already though.

Yes. He has already said that he is finally healthy.

Saying he underwhelmed isn't unnecessary. He was still recovering.

he still has to prove it. draft analysis and rankings are behind us. its only for the draft...then you get to NFL and have to prove it.
that's why I put an if next to his name...if he proves he can play.

We also got Gary, Lawrence, Ezeiruaku more experienced, Quinnen, Kenny Clark, Caleb Downs? Who even does that? We also got Overton, Barham, Jalen Thompson, Dee Winters, Overshown is coming back, we picked up Cobie Durant. And we have guys like Bell and Reddy.

Pinch me. I was ready to give up last year. This is looking like a new team.

And that's a good thing.

Maybe it's not yet complete, but that is indeed one heck of a rebuild.

Anyone sense one more trade coming before the season starts?

I give the off-season rebuild a solid A.

Good Post, Dallas has indeed had a tremendous off season with both free agency and a stellar draft. Dallas has completely rebuilt their secondary with Downs and Thompson and Durant. Barham and Lawrence should be a handful and fit right in with Big Q,Clark and Gary, I like it . With Parker as the defensive coordinator, I am looking for a huge improvement on defense this season .

Just like you said, I believe we will be watching a top 12 defense, about 4 or 5 games in to the season. This team has added some Dawgs, now let's see some team chemistry built so it can flourish .

With all the moves made at S, DL, and snagging a solid LB like Winters and drafting Barham, this defense should be somewhere between average to above average, and pretty well-rounded. Should get better as the season progresses since there are a lot of young players that'll be in key roles.

My personal plan would have looked a lot different. Every item below isn’t even remotely fantasy. It’s all doable with the resources we controlled.

Free Agency
1) $17m saved: The amount of 2026 cap space from giving Pickens an actual four year, 110m deal

2) $15m saved: The amount of 2026 cap space saved by giving Quennin a four year, $115m extension rather than letting him play out the string on his current contract. The price is only going up and there’s no way Jerry faces the scorching heat he would take for letting Q walk.

3) Sign Trey Hendrickson to a four year, $112m deal, similar to what he signed in Baltimore.

4) Not bother with Rashan Gary and keep our 2027 4th. An incredibly good draft class

5) Use Gary’s $15m salary to sign Devin Lloyd to a three year, $45m contract similar to what he signed in Carolina

Draft:
6) Not traded for Dee Winters and saved that 5th round pick (#152)

7) Draft CB Keith Abney at #152


Additions:

• Trey Hendrickson
• Devin Lloyd
• Keith Abney
• 2027 4th

Subtractions

• Rashan Gary
• Dee Winters

I can’t imagine anyone would say no to that and the only concessions are to actually extend Pickens and Quennin.
