Interesting bench mark.

He's 32, same as Ware but with far more injury history and less production.
But he's also clearly a great 3T right now.

Could see him get a 4 year 24m deal with 14(total from first two seasons) guaranteed.
10m SB, yr 1 1m, yr 2 3M, yr 3 5m, yr 5m.

more than we can go given his age but a very fair deal for his potential the next two or three seasons.

would be hilarious to see him sign with seattle.

I've got a feeling he goes to the giants

Giants have bigger issue on OL than DL.

Will be interesting to see him if someone pays him big before the draft.
This isn't as coveted a DL group as last year but does seem deeper.

I wish Hatch well and maybe he falls through cracks or hits nasty market and returns.

Yes, playing in the Pro Bowl helps but any half-witted GM would understand that a 32-year-old DT has a very limited shelf life. I think he maybe gets a two-year offer for $7 mil a year.

That's why I said what I said.

If we don't re-sign him for cheap (which we won't), I hope he signs a huge, ridiculous deal somewhere outside the division. Have him sign a big money deal and become an All-Pro so it helps us potentially get a higher compensatory pick next year.

If they have money for that, they'll probably just retain their own free agent DT, Linval Joseph. He is 25 vs 32 for Hatcher.

they deal with that question here:
http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/giants/post/_/id/33471/will-the-giants-re-sign-linval-joseph

Joseph is clearly going to get real money. But I agree his year 1 cap money may well be the same as Hatcher. Difference likely will be length.

Don't think Cowboys are legit players for either Hatch or Joseph.
If both were even minute considerations hatch is the guy most likely to fall through cracks or give you a home town discount of some sort.

I agree that Hatcher and Joseph seem like low probabilities to be on the Cowboys roster in 2014; however, if they Giants don't sign Joseph before free agency starts, the Cowboys should definitely consider signing him. He is a little bigger than a typical Marinelli DT, but I think he has plenty of quickness which is the primary criteria. I thought many times while watching the Cowboys in 2013 that they can't always win just trying to beat OLinemen with quickness. A DT that could bull-rush on occasion would have been very helpful.

It seems like the Giants would re-sign their own player, but who knows. They do have an existing starter at on spot and a high draft pick ready to be the other starter.

Hatch is a good player...too bad he flashed in his final year (and a losing one). He'll get his money from someone, but for me he has been solid but not spectacular and he's on the wrong side of 30 to go nuts with. This team won't be able to compete with others when the offers come...and apparently they had little or no interest in keeping the guy to begin with or he would have been extended. Probably at his pinnacle this past season.

Hatcher will be a Cleveland Brown. Book it!

Had this convo the other day. I went with five year deal 32 mil 12 in bonus.

That would be huge, I think it will be less though, could be wrong. I guess it depends how they work the contract, how much is guaranteed etc.

He'll get something similar to what Kyle Vanden-Bosch got when he went to Detroit. 4 years, $26 million or something in that neighborhood.

Teams will still pay money for D-Line players who still show that they can play i.e. John Abraham, Jason Babin, Vanden Bosch, etc.

Joseph is a really good young 1T but he isn't coming here. Dallas isn't going to spend big money for a 3 sack per year player on this DL.

Dallas needs quantity and is very unlikely to aim for top line starters.

Joseph isn't really a fit here under Marinelli.

Spencer gets 11 sacks....he's worth $11M.

Hatcher gets 11 sacks.....he's worth a McRib sandwich and three extra ketchup packets.
