Just wait and see...if Jones doesnt go out and sign a big name or two within hours of the free agency period, CZ will meltdown, because the vast majority believe that buying big name players is the thing to do.

It does not even have to be a big name. If we don't sign anyone a few hours into FA this board is going to melt down. Then if we do it's still going to melt down because half will like it and half won't. Then as soon as the Giants, Eagles or Commanders sign some one it will melt down saying we missed the boat or they are improving and we are not. Just face it, FA will bring melt down no matter what happens.

Yep. It's my favorite part of the year on this board. When FA is about to begin and then when it does.

Oh all the glorious posts about fans turning in their fan cards, people worried about how the Eagles just got so much better and we're sitting around doing nothing, or the even better ones where people completely laugh at the people other teams sign and act like that player will never do anything on their new team.

How's that working out for the anti-Samuel crowd? He had another pretty solid year and *GASP* it wasn't in the New England defense. How could that have EVER happened? (Note that I might have been one of those people who thought he was a NE scheme guy, I'm honesty not sure anymore but if I was I can still laugh about the egg on my face for being wrong.)

Ahhh this will be good times.

Samuels was pretty good but nothing warranting the money he got.

I predict that we are some meaningless number under the cap, because it is all funny money and can be manipulated to be whatever you want. I also predict that we will not sign Julius Peppers or Bart Scott or anyone, rather we'll do the smart thing (hopefully) and draft smart and continue to build that way.

*fingers crossed*

Don't you guys think we need to add some proven depth at OL? With the developmental stage being 2 years for drafted linemen, I would be much more comfortable knowing we picked-up some guys in FA.

It depends where in the draft and what kind of O-Lineman you pick up. If you're talking about a small-school guy picked in the 5th round, sure.

But lets say you pick up a starter from Oklahoma or some SEC school or whatever, where the players are practically professionals already with all the coaching and lack of class time they achieve. Then you're talking potential day 1 starter.
