How much more important is a back up QB?

When Hardy signs we have lifted our defense a mile.
What does that do to the back up QB? Praying Romo stays healthy but we all know Weeden isn't worth a salt.
Thoughts?

I think we are in the same boat as any other team in the NFL if their starting QB goes down, screwed.

Though Dallas seems to like Vaughn.

The fact of the matter is there are no good backup QBs. Half the league can't find a decent starting QB.

We're probably stuck with sifting through the vet cuts just like every other team.

Good question. All might not be lost if Romo goes down if Hardy is signed and a good RB is drafted.
Is there now a need to upgrade the backup QB position?
And where do you look now?

True. Just gots ta keep dem fingas crossed, my wizzle.

Romo is tough and gritty and gutty and all that stuff, but I really would like to see an upgrade over Weeden. My choice would be Matt Moore. I have a man crush on him, as far as back up QBs go. If Romo can't go one week, I would have much more confidence in Matt Moore than I would Brandon Weeden.

This. In the entire NFL there is only like 15 QBs that are elite, special, good, above average and their all making big bucks!!!

everyone else is just trash and you need to pick your preference that you sift through

Why do you have a crush on Matt Moore?

I think he is one of the very best back up QBs in the league. And he is a free agent. (At least I dont think Miami has re-signed him).

I thought they did, but I'm admittedly being lazy. I can respect that. Wild that he was once here as a back up and we let him go.

If there were a QB who could do half of what Romo does he'd be starting somewhere else.

Backup QB is only important provided the guy doesn't have to play more than a game or two.

No. Weeden is better than Pryor.

It's honestly not clear cut.

Hell, at least one guy is actually in a developmental period and could foreseeably improve. Weeden is basically 23 going on 32.

that cardinal game last year was there for the taking. anyone else would've won that game.

what happens? 3 way tie for best record in the NFC that costs us a bye.

It's possible that means our backup is less important. A quarterbacks best friend is a running game and a strong defense.

Exactly

it's not about if Tony were to go down for the season, then we know we're done. It's about what happened last year, where if he goes down for a game or two we have a guy who wont be terrible out there, and can maybe make a play. I think backup QB is more important for us than maybe any other team.
