How much more important is a back up QB?

Honestly I say if Weeden and Vaughan are pretty close to even give it to the kid. Romo goes down for an extended period the team is toast. I can settle mediocre from a UDFA kid but from a high pick like weeden its unacceptable.

When Hardy signs we have lifted our defense a mile.
What does that do to the back up QB? Praying Romo stays healthy but we all know Weeden isn't worth a salt.
Thoughts?

My thoughts, thank god Locker retired and Ponder signed with Oakland. Two stiffs. Hard to find a starter in this league, never mind a back up. Wonder if they really are interested in Hundley.

that cardinal game last year was there for the taking. anyone else would've won that game.

what happens? 3 way tie for best record in the NFC that costs us a bye.

Exactly. Everyone knows that if a back-up QB is forced to start 8 games then the team is in trouble. Its when there is just one game...or maybe two games....when the back-up is needed, you kinda want them to manage the game and get the win.

Garrett's MO has been to have a veteran backup. The only vet available that's better than Weeden at the moment is maybe Jason Campbell.

I think the status quo remains at the backup QB position unless Vaughan shows a lot of improvement.

As much as I hate to admit it is time to draft Romo's heir apparent. Someone with legit potential.

Not a big Weeden fan, but he is better than many around here think.
IMO

Arizona had an awfully good defense when we faced them last year. Tall task for anyone.

Weeden couldn't get them out of the box and we still could have won that game. BYE and HFA throughout the playoffs would have been huge. I don't think Weeden isn't a bad back up but if we can improve in that area then we have to.
