How much will a Cowboys victory mean to you?

About as much as the 1991 win over the Bears in the wild card round. That was the first playoff victory for Dallas that I ever witnessed and after 11 years, I anticipate a win would feel oh so good.

For me personally, anything less than a Super Bowl win is a huge disappointment.

I'll still be proud of the team if they give it their all and come up short... but I'd be lying if I said I'd be content with anything less than celebrating my a** off at the end of the year.

I truly believe there's just 1 winner and 31 losers each year. Your city is either throwing you a parade at the end of the year or they're not... period.

This game will mean nothing special to me, after a 13-3 season they are expected to win the first game at least, especially at home against a team they already beat twice. Im almost looking at it like a regular season game, doesnt even have a playoff feel yet.

When they beat GB and advance to SB then it will mean something.

When we win, I will start thinking about Green Bay or Seattle 5 minutes after our game ends.
If we lose, which I doubt, I'll get over it around the start of the draft. Unless we lose like the Catch in '82, or last year, which as a fan you never forget or completely get over.

I wanted the Steelers game more than any game in my Cowboys life. YES, the Harper slant was sweet revenge for the "Catch" , HOWEVER if you were a Cowboys fan in the 70's and had to endure the fascination and BS with "Bluecollar" Pittsburgh and live thru the Benny Barnes phantom call and Jackie's drop, you know darn well you could have NEVER swallowed to 3rd loss to Pittsburgh , especially with Sgt Slaughter face as their coach.
Back ontopic - I need this win, I want this one BAD! the treatment of the team on the radio is disgraceful, one guy in NY said today that Wade wasn't really a coach, that as a Cowboys coach, except for Parcells, that you really do not coach the team. YES HE REALLY SAID THAT!!! :bang2: They also brought up the Wade collapses in the playoffs, and how hot the 2-2 Giants are , and all the garbage you could think of SO anti Dallas it's unreal.
I've shut the radio off, not going to ESPN(not that I ever really did) not reading the NY papers - DONE.
I want a win Sunday and I'm now fully expecting it - my guy to watch? : Miles Austin DEEP.

I understand where you're coming from. I think though, that Dallas has brought on this "doubt" due to the lackluster play in December. We were America's darlings after the Chicago win and could do no wrong after we beat Green Bay.

The shoe's on the other foot now. Until the team show's that they are in sync...we will keep hearing it from the media outside of the Metroplex.

That Pittsburgh win in '95 was as satisfying as the 2nd win against Buffalo in the Superbowl. Not nearly as exciting as that 1st win against the Bills though.

I like Miles Austin deep as well, but this week he needs to hang on to the ball.

BTW, I was at the '66 Championship game against GB and at the '81 Championship game, too. "The Catch" was made at the opposite end of the field from my seat in the endzone and when everybody stood up I actually didn't see the exact moment of the catch. If Drew Pearson could have been a little faster, or Keena Turner (I think it was) a little slower, we'd have actually pulled a finish more amazing than Detroit this year. Unfortunately, Danny White didn't have Romo's magic nor luck...

Eric Wright, not Keena Turner, and you're right, people often forget how close Pearson was to breaking away on that play.

What most people forget was how a good position we were in after that play.
First and 10 at I think SF's 45. Best kicker in the league. We had 30 plus seconds left and at least one more time out. After that play, I was sure we were winning.:bang2:

I was 10 the last time they won a playoff game. So I will be happy when they get the win Sunday. I beleive when they when Sunday they will gain more confidence in themselves and will be able to go into the NFC Championship Game and beat the Packers or Seahawks, whoever they meet there, and then beat whichever AFC team will be in the Superbowl.

1. The Pearson slant made the Harper slant all the sweater. If Pearson (#88) pulled a Irvin and switched with Tony Hill (#80), you never know.

2. The Danny White fumble at midfield was actually not a fumble if they had the tuck rule.

3. We were so close to pulling that off 30-28. I bet Staubach would have. Danny never had it.

I'll be relieved, but it doesn't mean much to me yet. It'll be nice to say we finally won a post season game again, but that isn't the goal for me. It's never the goal.

I'm much more satisfied with an enjoyable and exciting season than I will be with a victory this week if that's as far as it goes. That may be strange to some people.

I want to win and I will be amped if we do, but I want so much more.

i dont know how much a win will mean to me but i know for sure a loss will crush me! It's been too long since we have done anything worth noting and now to have everythin set up for us and for the team to blow it... well it would be extremely dissapointing...

A win would be huge for me.

Like someone said before, I was a kid during the championship years of the '90s (9 in 1995), so I didn't appreciate those wins as much. But, after years of growing up with and staying with this team, I've seen some terrible years (see Dave Campo seasons) and some close heartbreaking years (see last year). A win would be huge, but it won't mean too much without the Super Bowl championship soon to follow.

But, the game does have some importance to me. I live in Bergen County, NJ or Giants Country. Most of this area is a bunch of arrogant and ignorant Giants fans. I can't stand them. I don't want to have to deal with the "We beat you when it counted" comments from them. It may sound selfish, but I just don't want to deal with them.

Oh, but we'll win and be fine ...

I moved to Wyoming in the fall of '96 with my wife. We haven't won a playoff game since. This game is huge, we win this, I know we will go to the bowl. Who knows what happens then. I was there for the win vs the bears in '91 and then the beat down we took vs the lions the next week. The next year we throttled the iggles in the divisional round and hammered the 9ers in the NFC champ game. This next game is the most important in about 15 years. We need to win this game convincingly.

I decided that if we win, I'd be willing to remove myself from contention and let Tony have Jessica.
