How much winning

I go back to 1960, so have seen all the eras, growth, decline, ups, downs, etc.

Right now, I’d settle for making the playoffs 2 seasons in a row and AT LEAST advancing into the NFC Champ game in one of those seasons.

Then, see if we can get a third straight playoff visit, advance into a SB appearance and, hopefully, get a win.

But first we’ve gotta get to the point where we can consistently make the postseason.

Exactly. Consecutive playoff appearances again would be nice. I’d even be happy going 1-1 in them to get to a .500 record. I thought the “process” was to build a long term competivie team, but we are still a see-saw team like most of the other teams in the league.

Show me some consistency in being SB contenders and I will be happy. Once that is accomplished then my expectations will level set and then I will be looking for the team to take the next step and actually win a SB in order to be happy. Baby steps.

Winning a SB would be a start, but it wouldn't wash the bad taste out of my mouth of the last 2 decades of underachieving. This team has become the "SOS different year Cowboys". We can never start hot and finish hot, like Jimmy's teams. There's no accountability here. Even the great seasons we've had, I wasn't confident going in to the post season. This coaching staff just doesn't know how to prepare a team for post season. Hell, they can't even prepare it for regular season.....

Don't get Me wrong, I love it when We win, but My appetite for Cowboys Football will never be sated, whether We win or lose, I'll keep on loving Them, I may dislike the owner, coach, Derek Eagleton, various players at various times, but My love will remain forever true.

Is needed to quench your thirst from this massive SB drought the Cowboy's have experienced?

I was thinking about it earlier, if the Cowboy's won the SB next year would i feel satisfied? The quick answer is no.

Growing up in the 80's i experienced a long drought and i'm sure you experienced it in some form as well. I didn't experience any SB victories till 92. With two older brothers constantly reminding me of the glory days of the 70's and the heartbreaking losses to the Steelers, i became pretty thirsty for some SB wins. Back than the only access to information about these stories that i had was ESPN films which was like a form of Church to me with all it's drama.

So 92 rolls around and were playing SF in the NFC championship game. What a game! SB vs Buffalo was next and we were losing early, i was red as a lobster from anger. We quickly came back and won easily. I was relieved and that feeling satisfied my thirst. The next SB win was a feeling of riding the wave of success. Next Jimmy was gone, turbulence followed with a eventual SB game vs the Steelers in 95. I like most of you knew at this time we needed to win this SB, it might be awhile till the next one. I didn't think it would take more than two decades though.

After experiencing this like most of you have in some way, after all these average results over the years will a single SB victory quench your thirst? I guess if your young and never experienced it before than the one SB victory will be justice. If your getting old and just want to see one more before the clock stops i also get that.

:star:

I guess we should win first and worry about this later.
I honestly don't expect another SB visit in my life time. I live in Vikings country and the general feel by most Vikings fans was said best by my buddy (this also applies to our team). "The Vikings are more like a fart after your 40. Eventually your going to "poo" your pants."

I'll always love the Cowboys, but I must admit that I just don't look forward to the games like I used too. It's like reading a book over and over and expecting a different ending. It's frustrating as hell watching this team at times. I find that no matter how well they're doing, like last year, I just don't get my hopes up and I won't be as upset when they choke, AGAIN...

Yes.

We older fans are playing with house money at this point. 5X SB Champions 8X in the Super Bowl.
I think we're close to being the team with most playoff games - although the Steelers may be ahead now.

Now you sound entitled. Thirteen teams have NEVER won a Super Bowl.

If the Cowboys win it next season and you're like "Meh, it's a start" then you're probably going to feel unsatisfied the rest of your life.

Garrett is still learning the job

People post this a lot as a criticism of Garrett, but I'll go a step further and say I don't see any evidence that he's actually learned anything or improved in any meaningful way. He's the same coach he was in 2010, the closest thing he has done to evolving is to offload more of his work onto his coordinators. He's only reduced his mistakes insofar as he does fewer things, period.

Winning is over rated
We're 'spoilt' after all it's ONLY been 2 decades since we've even been in a NFC CG
It's a process
Let's stack and clap and then clap and stack to really shake things up

Yea it's some process alright.

To be a process things actually have to change over time. It's not a process, it's the opposite of a process, it's stagnation.

If some of us sound "entitled", it's because we know how winning feels and we EXPECT it. I know I do. But to say that a SB win is going to define the rest of our lives if we don't feel great about it, after 2+ decades of failure, is a bit much. We are not the Detroit Lions, and absolutely should expect more than this organization has accomplished in the last 20+ years. Damn straight, we're better than that...

It would be, if someone said it. The point was if the only way you're going to be happy is when SB wins come in bunches you're probably going to be unsatisfied. Come to think of, that's exactly how I'd expect a spoiled, entitled fan to behave.

As long as the Jones boys are running the show I'm just hoping to see one more before I die. But if they manage to get one I'll want another like everyone else. I just won't feel like it's owed to me.
