Romo could have been cut if it wasn't for Quincy Carter. That year QC was projected to being the started and by all accounts was doing well. BP brought in Vinny and we traded for Drew Henson. If QC would not have got busted for drugs, then it is very possible that Romo would not be a Cowboy today. So Thank you QC for getting cut, you are the reason we have a Great QB today

It is possible that Romo would have been cut. It is also possible that Romo would have then been signed to the practice squad. We don't know how differently things would have gone. Just like we don't know what things would have been like if either Romo or Henson got to play at the end of the 2004 season when Dallas was out of playoff contention and Vinny was sucking the life out of the team. :D

No way he goes to the practice squad. Shanahan is already on record saying he offered Romo more money to go there, but Romo declined because he had a better shot at making the cowboys.

shanahan would have picked him up on waivers quickly.

Thanks Quincy !!!!!!!!!!!!

Question...if I thank him for doing drugs and being a mediocre QB is it going to launch a firestorm? I ask because we could use some boiling blood around here.

:D

On a serious note, as I've posted a couple of time before, he wasn't going to make the team in 04 unless he was lights out in TC. The true person whose plans got derailed is Henson. Hard work and personality does pay off.

Henson was the guy Jerry and Company envisioned being the next great Cowboys QB.

Romo outworked him from what I gather. He also is engaging enough that everyone on the team really likes him.

That was in 2003 when Shanahan made the offer. Would he be willing to stick with that a year later?
We just don't know and fortunately at this point it does not matter.

:hammer:

When we got Henson, QC was a goner. JJ made a big investment in him and Payton/BP were intrigued by Romo. Vinny was going to be the starter. QC was doomed, drugs or not.

I wonder where old Crankcase is a now? What's he up too these days?

He coulda been a contenda with the Falcons because he's a scrambling, inaccurate QB...just like the QB that let the dogs out!

And Romo flat out is a vastly better Quarterback than Drew Henson.
