Good point. I think, as a result of free agency, I have to ask myself, is it possible for a dominant team to exist in today's NFL? At the very least one might think you have to redefine "dominant".

Then again.....

I never claimed that dominant teams exist every season or even cluster of seasons.

However.....

Perhaps an elite team ended it's dominance recently....the New England Patriots?

They are no longer dominant, obviously, but 19 consecutive winning seasons? 13 conference championship games? 9 Super Bowls?

I'm certain you could dig up some Patriot fan that jumps for joy at that point in time when the Patriots have won their division over the 21st century versions of the Bills, Dolphins, and the Jets with a combined record of 459-549 since 1999. That is, if you scour their fan forums and Facebook for hours and days and weeks. It's possible.

Their kicker was relevant, yes. Was I exaggerating? Of course. Most folks on this forum realize that I wasn't making a universal statement of truth. I was making a general statement that refers to the fact that elite teams score TD's instead of FG's....generally, okay? Let's not point out examples when a drive did stall now and then and they settled for a FG. I admit, it happened.

A top coach says he's "tickled pink" about the progress and work ethic of a veteran. The HC (Jerry) says the Cowboys can do anything with Cooper Rush.

Hm...That depends on your interpretation of "adequacy" although I'm inclined to agree with your specific examples. I suppose that depends on whether a team simply has no one better or it seems as though they are standing in the way of developing "adequacy" among the remaining players at their position.

You know, I might even go so far as to say that your team is dominant if you only see and hear the GM during the trophy ceremony after a Super bowl victory.

I tell by watching. preseason or not. You let someone over power you or push you around. That's who you are! You a stud. Preseason or not it doesn't happen. It's your DNA. You either tough all the time or you are not. If you are that guy. You play like that whether it's real or not. You tell me any top player that looks soft in preseason and suddenly turns into the Hulk after the season starts. REALLY????? You are who you are. Preseason or not. Game day or not. The whole team is soft. Whether that's coaching or Jerry spoiling them. Dallas is NOT a physical team. Not in their DNA.
