How to Tell if Your Team Isn't Dominant

@plasticman Who are the ‘dominant’ teams this year?
Good point. I think, as a result of free agency, I have to ask myself, is it possible for a dominant team to exist in today's NFL? At the very least one might think you have to redefine "dominant".

Then again.....

I never claimed that dominant teams exist every season or even cluster of seasons.

However.....

Perhaps an elite team ended it's dominance recently....the New England Patriots?

They are no longer dominant, obviously, but 19 consecutive winning seasons? 13 conference championship games? 9 Super Bowls?

I'm certain you could dig up some Patriot fan that jumps for joy at that point in time when the Patriots have won their division over the 21st century versions of the Bills, Dolphins, and the Jets with a combined record of 459-549 since 1999. That is, if you scour their fan forums and Facebook for hours and days and weeks. It's possible.

Their kicker was relevant, yes. Was I exaggerating? Of course. Most folks on this forum realize that I wasn't making a universal statement of truth. I was making a general statement that refers to the fact that elite teams score TD's instead of FG's....generally, okay? Let's not point out examples when a drive did stall now and then and they settled for a FG. I admit, it happened.

When you give up more yards than ya gain, you lose the turnover battle constantly and the Vegas boys have you a dog at home.

3. One of the most exciting days for you as a fan is the NFL draft.

4. The "signature" game of your team's best players are all in the regular season.

5. Every time your team beats another team with a winning record it's considered an upset.

6. You pay attention to veteran free agency.

7. Your team's YouTube game highlight videos are always ten minutes shorter than their opponents.

8. You believe rookies can significantly impact the outcome of the season.

9. You are constantly considering outlandish trade scenarios.

10. The words "hotseat" and "window" are mentioned frequently by football analysts and media.

11. Any sports publication or show featuring a "Best of" list never seems to contain more than one or two of your team's players.

12. You tend to look at victories negatively at times because it lowers your team's draft position.

13. The last game of the season for your team as well as a game featuring a division rival determines whether your team makes the playoffs.

14. Your team's kicker is relevant.
You keep broken, declining vets like Sean Leach and Recent Witten years beyond their adequacy.

A top coach says he's "tickled pink" about the progress and work ethic of a veteran. The HC (Jerry) says the Cowboys can do anything with Cooper Rush.

Hm...That depends on your interpretation of "adequacy" although I'm inclined to agree with your specific examples. I suppose that depends on whether a team simply has no one better or it seems as though they are standing in the way of developing "adequacy" among the remaining players at their position.

You know, I might even go so far as to say that your team is dominant if you only see and hear the GM during the trophy ceremony after a Super bowl victory.

I don’t mean to bag on you, personally, but this post is pathetic. Truly pathetic. That is all. Carry on.

Post of the year.

When other team's backups have eye-opening performances.

@plasticman Your list is nothing but a futile attempt at humor. A lot of what you wrote is sheer nonsense.

All teams celebrate division titles. Even the dominant ones. It is the first goal of many goals. All teams and fans hope to go deep in the playoffs. The draft is exciting for many teams and fans and has nothing to do with ‘dominance.’ Rookies can significantly impact a season. Me believing this fact means my team is not dominant? Me believing this about another team means that team is not dominant? Ravens’ kicker Tucker is relevant. That means the Ravens are not dominant?

You tried to mock fans who believe certain things and, at the same time, whine about lack of dominance, ignoring the fact that the two are totally unrelated.

Take a deep breath...it's going to be okay....it was just humor....nothing to be afraid of.

All good here, not sure about you.

I tell by watching. preseason or not. You let someone over power you or push you around. That's who you are! You a stud. Preseason or not it doesn't happen. It's your DNA. You either tough all the time or you are not. If you are that guy. You play like that whether it's real or not. You tell me any top player that looks soft in preseason and suddenly turns into the Hulk after the season starts. REALLY????? You are who you are. Preseason or not. Game day or not. The whole team is soft. Whether that's coaching or Jerry spoiling them. Dallas is NOT a physical team. Not in their DNA.

Your fans love articles about the talent level of your team so much that they start multiple threads celebrating it...in August.
