Hey let's make this a racist conversation now. He has 0 traits of a Rivers who is immobile and throws side armed. You know the best way to find out if someone is racist is exactly what you just did.
Rivers is built similar to Dak and used to be mobile. Prescott is nothing like Wilson and McNabb.

It's like the Dirk and Bird comparison. They are nothing alike.

The point of the post is not to say Dak is more like Wilson than Romo or anyone else, but to suggest how we can turn a 4th rounder with potential into a franchise QB in 4 years or less. How about we focus on that now?

Understand the sentiment and in a number of scenarios I agree.

Having said that, Russell Wilson is the 2nd ranked passer in NFL history by QB rating -- nearly 5 points higher than Romo (101.8 vs Romo's 97.3). That doesn't even account for 600 yards rushing per season Wilson averages.

You should go root for him, too. That way, you can have three favorite teams.

his defence did, when they relied on him the next year, he threw an INT at the goal line

But that really wasn't his fault. It was more on the play calling, and the fact that ex-Seahawk Browner was on the Patriots, knew the play and told Butler what to do when the Seahawks lined up in that formation.

He is more then likely to to turn into more of a Tony Romo type QB then a Wilson type QB because he will be groomed in the same offense Romo plays in. He probably has more similarities to Romo then Wilson anyways

prediction: a preseason nagging injury slows the Dak express. Cowboy sign washed up vet QB to be back up.

Wilson has done a good job but much of the success for the Seahawks has been the run game and their defense. It never seems to end that people think it is all about QB, Wilson with that defense is not under pressure of having to put up a ton on points he knows his defense can get them the ball back and set the offense up with great field position. I don't take nothing away from Wilson but Seattle has not put the entire fate of their team on Wilson shoulders.

Your wrong Erod. Last season when Wilson threw for 34 TDs, 8 Interceptions, with a QB rating of 110, AND ran for 8 touchdowns he showed he was an incredible multi-dimensional QB.

It was frankly, a more productive season than Tony Romo's 2014 near-MVP season. Same number of passing TDs, less interceptions than Romo, and of course also all those rushing 1st downs, yards, and TDs. Romo had a 1800 yard rusher behind him and the NFL's best OL.

Wilson has become a fantastic passer. We already knew he was a really good runner.

Before 2014 I, like you, wondered if his surprisingly high QB rating was due to his running game.

After last year with the loss of lynch, I am a believer and should be to.

I agree, Wilsons a legit QB. He was brought up in a VERY QB friendly environment which I believe was a huge reason why he is what he is today. Having that defense and running game allowed him to drive the bus until he was truly ready to step up. I remembered hearing about us wanting him that draft also but Seattle took him earlier than most teams had him valued. (No link to that memory, just something I picked up along the way listnening to pod cast and geeking out over football.)

As far as developing Dak he is also in an amazingly qb friendly environment with the oline, EZE, Dez and Witten to all take pressure off of him. The fact that Romo has stepped up and is mentoring these guys and that they darn near idolize him is an advantage Wilson never had. Cant speak for the qb coach but Romo being a coach if sorts helps tremendously in that area. The only shortcoming I see in his development may possibly be a defense that puts pressure on him to score alot of points. Romo took alot of heat making bad (sometimes forced) decisions in order to overcome a lack of a running game and bad defense.

Lol true but holy mother of all bad calls. Single handedly the worst call in the history of the league and the fact he then still choose to throw the ball into the middle of the field made it even more idiotic.

Very rare is the thread that starts and finishes anywhere near the same point lol

So, Saturday's game showed us all that Dak has potential to be a starting QB in this league and successor to Romo. We have four years to mold him before his contract is up. How we coach him up will be crucial. Over the years, our QB and offensive coaches have not shown a great aptitude for developing QBs and integrating them into our system. We should take a lesson from Seattle and Russell Wilson...

In my mind, Prescott and Wilson share similar physical and mental makeup. They are great athletes, smart, natural leaders, and have strong arms. However, their passing fundamentals, especially from the pocket, needed (Wilson) and need (Prescott) work. As the link below shows, Wilson has progressed well in this area because he has learned to suppress the instinct to run or throw immediately in the face of pressure, but instead, to "hitch up" or subtley step up or slide in the pocket to buy more time for him to read the defense and for his receivers to get open. This skill (along with improving footwork to create a solid base, so that each throw is accurate) will be key in Dak's development.

So how do we get Dak to where Wilson is (or close to it)? First step is make him the #2 QB (as Jerry alluded to today), so that he gets enough reps each week. Second step is to hire a better QB coach. Apologies to Wade Wilson, but we can do better. Maybe Jerry poaches a guy like Carl Smith (Russell Wilson's QB coach in SEA since he was drafted in 2012) or hires a bright young mind who has played QB more recently in the NFL and knows the "new game" (Wade Wilson retired from the NFL in 1999). Third step is for Dak to hire an offseason QB guru (I don't think NFL coaches can work with players except for specified camps) to work with him on fundamentals all year round.

If we follow these steps (or something like them), within four years when Dak's rookie contract is up, we should know if we have our next franchise QB or not.

These type of threads are where the merry go round of positive to negative posters all begins. This is a perfect example. I can tell you personally that I was very impressed watching Prescott and I have higher hopes for him because of it. I even came on here the next day and gave compliments and expressed my positiveness about him. Of course it was with caution because it was one half of the first preseason. But I can tell you immediately in my head I was dreading the overload of overzealous nonsense that would begin about how Dak is the next great QB in franchise history.

Its like these types of threads FORCE people to be negative. I am being FORCED into something I dont want to do because this stuff is just so over the top ridiculous that a realistic fan simply cant listen to it. In a weird, sad way I am almost hoping he goes 2-12 and two picks next weekend just to shut up these type of overzealous rants.

Can some of you please explain to me why we cant just let these cats play things out? Where is the need to over predict great things? Why would you want to be let down? Give the kid a chance to develop without all the pressure.
