How ugly is it likely to get in coming weeks?

I hope you enjoyed your trip to the Metroplex. When your next road trip to see the Cowboys?
We had a great time.... then the game started....lol
I have a former softball player getting married next month on Saturday that we are flying out for. The next day is the Lions game, so we are going to that. Good news is tickets will be cheap:)

Ugly enough that foresee the Jones boys being on the airwaves pumping optimism 5 days a week until game 17. That way they keep fans engaged, money coming in and a stadium full of fans (does not matter if they are Cowboys fans or fans of the opposing team, as long as butts are in seats). They will appear on ESPN, Fox Sports, NFL Network, and all other audio and visual outlets to pump the brand and themselves everyday of the week.

Now that is ugly!

We have three division games, Detroit and Chicago while Dak is out. Every game is in question. It could get real ugly. Like 4-13 ugly. Or worse.

You know what could be a lot uglier? If Dallas gets the #1 pick in the draft and doesn't draft a QB. But I don't think we'll be picking #1.

Best case we are going to be 2-4 with 0-6 being very probable. So yeah. Things are going to get really ugly.

On the bright side we might be bad enough to be in on the Bryce Young sweepstakes. That guy is going to be a baller.
They might end up being in the Bryce Young sweepstakes, but he won’t be a Cowboy. Jerry and Stephen, for different reasons, are married to Dak. They would trade the pick instead. And probably get less than good GMs would get because they overall suck at trading.

Starting 0-2 was expected even with Dak healthy , now it’s almost a lock. Especially with Bengals coming off a loss. This has potential of Cincinnati getting very well on Sunday.

My sense is the uglier this gets could have a carry over into potentially more winnable games while Dak is out like in NY and at home against Wash.

I hate to get ahead of myself here but a good performance even in a close loss Sunday could go a long way moving forward installing some confidence against lesser or more equal opponents.

But this could get out of hand very quickly . 0-3 or even 0-4 with 2 very tough opponents following and then the dumpster fire begins wondering whether we can win one while Dak is out. Which would fuel the need for him to return sooner.

I think we can possibly win one or two games with Rush but a good performance even in a loss could go along way heading up to NY on Monday night for the nation to see.

I expected to start 2-3 before the season. Now, after the mess we saw last Sunday, I'm just hoping for it.

Very.

I'll just sit back and laugh. Why? Because this is the culmination of all Jerry built teams. They fall apart due to drafting all the Kelvin Josephs and Jaylon Smiths and Randy Gregorys.

That 2nd round “philosophy” is definitely a big part of the many problems here! So many poor decisions from a guy who always thinks he’s doing good enough! All we could do is laugh. Bozo management = bozo results.

The Cowboys have the same philosophy every round and that is the problem: they try to go for the home run. If you are trying for a home run every round you are going to have a low batting average. Other teams are happy with average-to-good players in the mid to late rounds but the Cowboys are all about boom or bust.

The lack of faith in Cooper Rush is disturbing.

I think we have a better shot than we would with Dak because I think Moore and the offense will be ran differently.

I don't think there is a single part of Cooper Rush's game that scares any NFL team. You take a poll of all the DC and defensive coaches in the NLF and I will bet all of my earthly possessions that they will all grade out Dak better than Rush.

It won't take the NFL more than two games...last year's Minny game and this year's first start on Sunday to figure Cooper out.

I won't deny that an argument can be made that Rush may be more mentally resilient, but you tend to find that in poor talented players. They need to rely on other things to overcome their deficiencies. But that doesn't cover for a lack of physical talent.

This is Cooper Rush's problem. He doesn't have physical and mental talents inherent that makes him stand out. He's not the swashbuckler, playmaking, gunslinger Romo was. He doesn't have the legs that Dak has or correction had. Certainly doesn't have the accuracy that Aikman brought to the league with him. Moore has his work cut out for him.

We are looking for the rest of the team to step up. Defence and special teams have to not only contribute, they have to SCORE.

We are a severely hampered and under powered offence right now. It will take a total team effort beyond what they normally trot out on Sundays to be competitive until all the reinforcements get back.

Cowboys only win one game until Prescott comes back. They may still only win 1 game the next few weeks after Dak comes back. Every defense will rush 4 and play zone to take out every WR, stifling Kellen Moore’s gameplan.

Only chance we have is going to be against other teams with bad offenses. Maybe a Giants team. This team is going to be 1-3 or 0-4 no doubt. If they can somehow win both games against the Giants and Skins then we would actually have a shot if Dak comes back quickly.

They need a bunch of new plays this week.

4-5 new ones each day would not hurt.

You pretty much nailed it.

Except for the part about it taking last year's Minny game and another one. They have all of this preseason in which Rush stunk it up with some of the same players. So it's even worse than that.

It ain't gonna be rainbows and Gummy bears that's for sure. Just wait til another injury to the OL or Rush happens, after only one game this thing has a blown radiator and leaking oil. Wonder what's next? Stay tuned folks.

Might not be a bad thing.

I mean, what's going to bring about real and actual change besides rock bottom?

I doubt we are close to that point, but if we are going to be a 7-10 team that uses Prescott's injury as an excuse, I'd rather go 2-15 and see Jerry humiliated, and not so convinced he is "close."

Yeah, Jerry will be "humiliated" all the way to the bank. If 26 consecutive years of incompetence hasn't humiliated him then nothing will.

You know what they say.

Defense wins championships.

This defense could sink, or swim. But this game is all on the defense.
