Scandrick is one of the best slot defenders in the game. Ball skills?

He's one of the best for limiting yac and matching up against guys his size.

Orlando Scandrick on Calvin Johnson....think about it for a minute....yeah.

You were questioning his ball skills. You do not succeed as a slot defender without great ball skills.

Um yes you can. It's called limiting yac. The slot is the hardest to play cause the receiver can run wild and has the most real estate. Please don't tell me you think Scandrick has better ball skills than Carr.

That sentence is not exactly strengthening your argument. I'm sorry, what exactly do you mean by ball skills? Are you suggesting that Scandrick is able to limit YAC because he has the ability to take the receiver down right after he catches it? And how do you suppose he gets in position to make those tackles against a receiver that has the most real estate to work with? Because he is very adept at maintaining tight coverage against very quick receivers? Are those not considered good ball skills anymore?

There are no ball skills involved when you catch the ball and I let you.

There are ball skills involved when:

I bat the ball away.
Deliver a crushing blow that makes you drop it.
Pick the pass off.

In a perfect world, I agree with you, but CJ is just so damn strong. Carr is going to have to do what he has been doing this last few weeks and run step for step with him with safety help over the top. If Scandrick was faster I would like the whole 2nd best corner and safety concept but that just isn't going to work in our case.

Carr is not weak himself he is noted as a physical CB, if all you do is give CJ a free relase that is taking candy from a baby. Scandrick is not a good match up at 5'10"

Put Carr on him. Seriously. With the way Carr has been playing there's no reason not to.

Carr plus

I agree. Lee and or Carter will likely get the TE and RB. I will say Bush can present a problem he has put up 731 yards rushing and rec. More than anything we will need a strong pass rush on Stafford using the front 4.

I feel better about stopping Bush after that job we did against McCoy. I didn't expect us to do that well it was great to watch!

Detroit is a team that throws the ball like it's going out of pass, i just hope those passing plays don't open up the run, but I trust our line backers in space enough to make the tackle

I agree but 2 different kinds of backs. Bush concerns me because of his speed. When I say concerned it does not mean I don't think we can defend Bush and or the Lions offense. I think we can, I think this unit is gaining more and more confidence in this system. Det clearly will be a big challenge for the defense given the weapons they have.

We defend Calvin by putting up our own offensive display with Romo Dez, Williams, Beasley, Witten, Austin and Harris....

Got a better question:

How will the Lions defend Dez Bryant?

Oh did I forget to mention he is bringing his pass catching friends with him also?

Agreed. If we are concerned about the Lions' offense, Lions' fans should be absolutely terrified of ours.

Maybe. I think from a physical standpoint, Claiborne would be better suited to break up passes that actually went his way. But Carr presses better and is a savvy vet.
