How will we use Zeke

Should have Dmac in the field at the same time, both are excellent receivers out of the backfield. We will need to show the Giants something that they have not seen before because last time they absolutely shut us down.

I'm wondering if they're working on any wildcat or 'wild hog' stuff now that McFadden is back in the lineup?

And I think they should run more read option stuff like they did earlier in the season. It looked to me like they got away from that a bit during the season and that coincided with a bit of the offensive struggles. I've seen it back here and there over the past few games and I'm happy to see it return.

Zeke is a young strong man that can no doubt handle the load of a full game of carries but is that the wisest course of action? If that is what it takes then yes. IMO, that is not what it takes and so I would give him every third series off and give DMac a chance. I'm no fan of Dunbar so not seeing him on the field is fine with me but I do think Al Mo might even warrant carrying the rock late in the game if we are coasting to a victory. Zeke should be and is our work horse so let's not get nuts and divert from that strategy but let's also have enough vision for the future to not wear him out in his first contract for the Cowboys.

We need him much more active in the passing game.. He needs 4 or 5 passes a game to nullify the heavy blitz were are going to get.

DMac is also an excellent pass protector. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see him in there on the third drive, and spelling Zeke for a play here and there.
When we face 3rd and long, I fully expect we'll see Dunbar in there.

In other words, I don't expect to see anything very different from the regular season. Maybe more Zeke and less Dunbar on 3rd-and-short-to-medium.

5 yards a carry, 30 carries.

He already averages 11.3 yards a catch. 5 catches.....and that's over 200 total yards.

I know some will say sit him, and I've been saying that all season. Now isn't that time anymore, this is when guys get into Canton. Give Zeke the ball.

What the fans here are saying is they need Zeke to flip the switch and be in mid season form after 3 weeks of little to no activity vacationing down in Camp Coward.

I don't see any way where that could possibly fail.

I agree with that, but I think expecting 200 yards is a bit high, despite the great season he's had. Don't get me wrong, I don't be thrilled, but I don't think he has to hit those numbers for us to win.

My expectations are that Zeke carries us to the SB just like he did Ohio St 2 years ago!!

Perhaps, but if he doesn't get 30+ total touches I will not be a happy man.

If he gets that, then let the chips fall where they may.

I don't need a specific number, but I do need to seem him on the field for the great majority of these games. There is no tomorrow!

We all know that our running game is electric when Zeke is carrying the rock. When he's not on the field that home run threat is just not there. Will they give him a few plays off to rest him, give him no plays off, or will they give him series off like they did in the regular season? I hope he gets a few plays off but is on the field 97 per cent of the time. What say you? Thanks in advance for your input and discussion. Go Cowboys
He will run hard, and fast, through many holes.

That is how the Cowboys will use him.

They'll use him the same way, spelling him here and there with McFadden so he has enough gas to close in the 4th quarter. Continue to do what we've been doing to win games all season.

But I will say, from a positive perspective, that McFadden has looked good in his return and the team hasn't been reluctant to give him work immediately. So, in that sense, I'm not as worried about the dropoff in productivity and explosiveness now as I was when Morris was getting his 'regularly scheduled' series mid season. Morris looked like he 'hit the wall' quickly after a nice early start.

As I started reading the thread I was thinking "he better be in on every drive and 3rd down" but thinking about McFadden's burst the past few weeks changed my mind a bit. I think in the 2nd and 3rd quarter you get Dmac in there a few times. He was exploding through holes and hitting guys in the second level. He doesn't have the same home run potential as Zeke, but he brings a physicality. Let him blow up a few LBs and DBs instead of Zeke in mid-game.

Like someone else already said- his reduced workload in those last two games was not an accident. Our boy Elliott is going to be fresh and getting a ton of touches come next Sunday.

If his performance in the college playoffs is any indicator of how he'll perform in the pro playoffs, we're going to be a happy bunch in February.
